Parking break unavailable after battery recharge ?

I accidentally left my lights on yesterday and my Battery has drained.

the guy from my breakdown cover came to recharge it, but struggled and fiddled around quite a lot before it worked.

i think he may have scrambled the system a bit ? Or is that just a symptom of a dead Battery ?

I notice two changes:

”Parking Brake Unavailable… Visit your Dealer”

and also that my cruise control radar won’t set. I can turn it on so I see “Radar Ready”, but when I press “set”, nothing happens.

i should also note that the dealer didn’t update the Operating System like I asked at the last service (it’s a 2019 model I had purchased last year and realised the original owner didn’t do the system update they should have) so they are due to but have not yet done that…

Is it all related ? Will an OS update fix those other problems ?

I read some other instances where people replaced brake pads and actuators where affected, resulting in some expensive repairs… hoping my narrative doesn’t match that outcome

Any advice deeply appreciated !

The situation is covered in the Owner's Manual ...

You have run the 12V auxiliary Battery flat. The manual says:

■When the 12-volt Battery is removed or discharged
●Information stored in the ECU is cleared. When the 12-volt Battery is depleted, have the vehicle inspected at any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
●Some systems may require initialization. (P.621)

Systems requiring initialisation include the Parking Support Brake:

It may be a case of simply reenabling the PSB in settings - if not, a visit to your dealer may be desirable.

Ok, thank you ! Sounds simple enough.

my manual is in Spanish so I didn’t look at it yet. I will find a link with the English version online and save it somewhere easy.

appreciate you taking the time
