Mine was working rather poorly earlier this year, I took it to Kwik Fit for a full service in May, and asked them to re-gas the a/c. They did this service and charged me for the re-gas, plus one of those a/c cleaner bombs. A few months later and the performance of the a/c is pretty much back to how it was before

I wouldn't let Halfords or Kwik fit fill the washer bottle let alone AC, you need to take it somewhere that can check for leaks not just dump more refrigerant in.

Hi everyone, I finally have an update and my car back! Thanks to the advice here I stood my ground and found a specialist. To their credit, the Toyota garage let him come in and look and he was able to repair one of the pipes, which saved me about a grand in the end. I appreciate the help and hopefully the a/c will now hold up!

Just to add , took the car to kwik fit and they noticed the garage who fitted the new water pump and belt had disconnected a connector and that was why it wasn’t working?….. ice cold now and re gassed.

When was that done?

Just curious as to how long it was before you noticed given your location and the iffy summer we're having.

I would say about May ? Didn’t use the air con much till June-ish ?

Of course couple weeks on the air con is no longer working again…. So have contacted kwik fit who will fully refund me (they recommend an actual garage or Toyota dealer , but i am just goi to leave it)

You better fix it and start using it more often or keep it on all the time if the car has automatic climate control.
If no auto climate control then it’s ok, just leave it and drive without ac li,e older times. But if you want to make it work again in the future it will need more parts replacement than if you need to fix it now. It’s definitely your choice as you like.
