Help!

I have recently bought a Toyota Auris Tourer estate, ex M.O.D, but the insurance companies don’t recognise the reg or the tourer version so I’m unable to get a quote. I assume the number plate is blocked? What do I do please? 🙏🏻 🤯

I suspect you need a specialist insurer for this. A quick search turned this up:

Obviously an Auris isn't like a tank or whatever but it is still a unique MOD vehicle.

Its actually a 'Toyota Auris Sports Tourer' - try that, and come back to us.

It might be worth contacting the DVLA and finding out if that is its real numberplate too - If it isn't they should be able to find out what it is from the VIN. If it is they should be able to set the correct vehicle details so it shows up on the insurer database properly. (Actually I'm not sure if that is a thing they do or some other organization does! )

If you go to https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk and put in the reg, does that come up with anything?

Sooo is there anything MOD-ish about the car? Smoke launchers? Ejector seats? Pop-up machine gun turret? That sort of thing?

Would probably have been issued with a new registration number, and may take a few days or so to be updated on various systems.

you will not get a quote online if the reg has recently been changed ask them to look the car up by VIN and give the reg
