I have had four Toyota Hybrids since 2003 currently Prius Gen 4. About to purchase B4ZX when I heard about the annoying sound alarms on new cars.  I have hearing aids and thanks to Carista have managed to switch off most (not all anoying Bongs). Some of these safety features are the opposite auto lights in summer can make people think you are flashing to let them out.  Any distractions while driving must be driver enabled or dissabled.

My other concern is tyres& wheels.  Experience on hybrids tell me small wheels deep profile tyres are the most economical and long lasting. Once again Toyota do not let you chosse small wheels on high spec cars. Nobody will tell me the expected life of tyres on a FWD B4ZX.  I once had a Lexus taht got through Tyres in 9K swaped it for Gen2 Prius got well over 25K.

Fed Up waiting for the new Prius would like BZ4X but too many questions with no answers.  Love my Gen 4 but did not like the Gen 3 liked the Auris TS but annoying issues, Wheel size and no digital speed indicator made the Gen 4 Prius switch easy. Would like to change but not until I can drive what I am going to buy.  Test drive Vision had no annoying bongs but was a year old demonstrator.  Dealer did not have a new Motion to test did not know if Carista could disable the software, but confirmed all new cars were annoying customers.

Think I will stick with the Gen 4 guess it will outlast me and even though I have not used park assist it may come in handy. It is warm in winter, cool in summer and I have got used to the horrible white trim.

I’ve driven my bz4x about 11,000 miles and there are oodles of tread depth left. I haven’t measured it yet, but they are deep deep grooves.

I am on 18inch tyres on AWD Motion and at 22,000 miles plenty of tread left

If you are happy with your Prius why would you like to change for bz4x?
Your worries about tyres and sounds beeps might be the least ones you have.
These cars has major design inconveniences that can not  be worked around and can be a real problem for some drivers:

1. Dashboard instruments- these are blocked by the steering wheel and no matter how you set the wheel you not gonna be able to see the speed and other information.

2. Rear seat base - very low to the footwell and makes any adult seating on the back feel fatigue in its knees even after only short drives.
3. High depression - this is so important factor especially if you are buying privately.

If I had to pick between the two vehicles it would be Prius every time.

Until the safety tech gets developed so it works & interacts with the driver better I'll  avoid it.

Totally agree. Im test driving the Gen5 Phev next Saturday.

As to bings and bongs the 2019 & 2020-2022 Gen4 are practically silent and configurable from the standard car settings menu…

thanks guys I have been waiting for the gen 5 for so long another 6 months wont hurt.  My Gen 4 has just got better with age and x climates on 15" wheels.  I still smile everytime I drive it at the RADAR.  I dont need sat nav, hate mobile phones so leave mine at home and I can turn off the radio. My dash cams are discreetly hidden with no back screen. CAT lock fitted  even though its garaged. Ave 62mpg since bought and I am sure it will live longer than me. But I would like another last car (they have all been my last car when I placed the order)

EV may be the way to go at my age but Toyota have a habit of getting it wrong first time. I loved my gen2 but hated my Gen 3 The Auris TS could have been great but stupid wheels and software shortcomings ruined the experience. As for colours they obviously are not trying for the private owner.
