Rust On Wheel Bolts

My 2019 Yaris has very rusty wheel bolts, and it looks pretty bad. I was thinking of wire brushing and giving them a couple of coats of Hammerite smooth silver. Has anybody done anything like that? Is there a better soliution?

Do you have a 2019 Aygo (as per your profile) or a Yaris (as per your post)?

Could consider plastic wheel nut/bolt covers - available on Amazon eBay, etc. Check size first.

We've got one of each, but it's the Aygo that's got the rusted wheel nuts. My mistake,  sorry.

Just put some wheel nut caps over it.

The ones on the Toyota Aygo should be 17mm, and this was the stuff that I used:

It might stick out slightly, but better than taking it apart.  Also the paint will petty much strip every time you take the wheel off.  In fact, just by you putting the bolt back on will almost immediately ruin your work.

Just as an update, I removed the wheel bolts. All were rusty, some very rusty. I wire brushed them, cleaned with brake cleaner, and gave the tops two coats of Hammerite smooth silver. Finally, I coated the tops with Lanoguard grease. They look so much better, and we'll see how long that lasts.
