Hi.
I have an Toyota Auris E15 2011 2.0 D4D for two years now. Weeks ago, I had a light service and error code P0400

After this, I open and clean the EGR valve which was fully blocked and I also clean the Intake Manifold Gasket too. My question is, how to know if my EGR valve is working? Should the valve must be open when you start the engine or how it works? Or should goes open/close? Any tips to test it with? Because even i clean it , i still having smoke from the exhaust?! Please, can somebody can explain.

Thanks, Gezim

You can test the EGR valve by connecting the right terminals to a Battery, and see if it closes/opens the right way (using a waveform), checking it's wiring, and resistance in the terminals of the EGR connector.

How you do it in your particular EGR, I do not know, but that's usually the correct procedure. It's usually in Toyota's "Workshop manual" for your engine.

Hello The EGR valve when the car is cold does not work, it does not open, i.e. it is closed. The control to see exactly its movement, after some kilometers from the last cleaning, it should be opened again and checked. The factors for this damage are very complex. The best solution for your car is to scrap it. About the tobacco you do not mention the color is the tobacco;
