Inaccurate speedometer and RSA over speed warnings.

There are 3 options - by default (and turned on at each start) is a basic vibrate the steering wheel and turn in slightly, if you cross the line without signalling.

You can then turn on the full lane centre assist which attempts to keep you mid-lane. Works very well on motorways (IMO) but not useful when most A/B roads dont have clear markings. I only use on motorways - but for me its so good I wouldn't need to hold the wheel for easily a 50 mile stretch - if it didn't also monitor the wheel to prove you're holding it 😆.

Or the OFF option - which is not retained after power off.

I usually just leave as default, and put up with the occasional auto-steer into the parked car I'm trying to drive past, when I forget/choose not to indicate.
Would rather it was off by default though - feels more dangerous to have it steer you towards parked things when crossing the mid line.
My fault for not indicating I guess, but the main road in question is lined with parked cars every 20 yards down one side, so everyone drifts across the mid line with plenty room on opposite lane for oncoming traffic. Just learn to live with it I guess 😔

Laminated business card sized checklist will be produced. Preflight check will be instigated to switch all this more distracting and danger garbage annoying **** off before every drive!

Seriously though the Lane Tracing is terrible. I hope that's not on by default. I'm all for safety features likes ABS, traction control, stability control etc. but not the things which adds zero value or make things worse.

Having lived with it for 3 years, I can honestly say the lane tracing thing (Not the cruise control auto steer - That's great - but the thing that's supposed to stop an inattentive driver drifting out of their lane by accident) is the most stupid and asinine of the ADAS systems.

It does more harm than good, often trying to steer me into stationary parked cars and cyclists or getting confused where the road is and trying to steer me into a barrier.

The only saving grace is it's very weak and easily overridden (Unlike the pre-collision system's false overrides...!), but the system is so pointless IMHO it should be removed.

Frankly, the only situation this system would improve safety is for a driver who should *absolutely* not be allowed to drive in the first place, as it would only benefit someone with such a lack of consciousness or attention that they're probably half asleep or drunk, and anyone driving in such a state should absolutely have their license revoked for being too stupid to be allowed anywhere near the controls of a 1000+kg killing machine.

My brother's new RAV4 PHEV is exactly the same and is annoying him intensely. Oddly, my Octavia PHEV read 1 mph high at all speeds. I haven't checked the Corolla yet as the Nextbase 380GW dash cam doesn't have a display, unlike the one in the Octy. I may be able to get a display on my iPad if it's linked to the dashcam: can anyone advise?

I can't recall which of the  3 navigation apps I have on my iPhone gives a constant speed reading without going to the car to check but at least one of them does and all auto connect using the wireless auto apple-play feature. (Apple, Google and Waze) A lot less fuss than setting up an ipad I would have thought. What I do like in the new Rav PHEV is the extended use of voice control.  "Take me home" works every time and getting a clear direction on the HDU is much safer than turning my eyes toward the central console.

Back to speedometer readings.Having investigated further,  the low speedometer reading seems to be intentional seems to be an intentional offset rather than an inaccurate speedometer.

At 70mph the speedometer is reading 4mph low compared to 3mph low at 30. If it was just inaccurate it should be more 6mph out at 70.

So the inbuilt sat Nav directions appear on the HUD?

Mine is 6mph at 70mph. I go 76mph on the speedo to do a real world 69mph. According to my high end GNSS measuring device.

No, sadly.  But in my case my passenger maintains a constant vigil….if you get my drift. :(

All cars are calibrated so that they read about 3 to 4 mph fast, the calibration will change slightly as the tyres wear due to smaller circumference so there is no point in re calibration

Interestingly, if you put the “official” tyre sizes for the prius (15 & 17 inch rim) on the tyre comparison site the 17 is 2mph out over the 15.
so inaccuracy totally down to the “stock” variant you choose.
