Hi everyone,

My husband and I have lost our only car key for our 2022 Toyota Yaris Cross (probably on a dog walk - have turned the house and garden upside down, retraced steps etc - not luck). Toyota are saying for a new key they have to replace all locks and the ignition, which is likely to cost a lot of money. Frustrating as our baby pram etc is in the car (luckily not the baby!).

Does anyone have any experience with lost keys/replacement/getting into a cross? Thanks!

Did you set up the Toyota app? There's a button to unlock the car in the app

Since Toyota have not been meeting their contract to supply two keys in a timely fashion (supply chain is theirs to sort out, not yours) you should be making this their problem to fix. Go kick your dealer where it hurts.

Unfortunately I don't have this option on my app!

Depends if the vehicle was supplied with one or two keyless fobs when brand new.

We also don't know if the OP is the original owner from new or if the vehicle has been bought second hand / outside the Toyota dealer network.

As for opening the vehicle it wouldn't take an auto locksmith long to open it without any damage.

A Toyota dealer will want to see photo ID & proof of vehicle ownership before assisting.

Is lost key cover part of your insurance cover? Check your insurance policy.

I thought they were only supplying one key temporarily with a second to follow when available.

But, yes, if it's a used car things may be more interesting.

To get into the car you can get a key cut, an independent auto locksmith will be able to come out they may even be able to supply an aftermarket fob or program a used fob

the car should have come with 1 fob and one standard key as it is an Icon - only the dynamic and above got smart entry and keyless start

Edit. A Icon usually has a flip key with a physical ignition barrel

you may have locked the key in the car

I watched a video on YouTube (U.S.) where someone programmed a new key where both originals had been lost using, I assume, one of those boxes that car thieves use to nick a car off the drive.  I would google for a car locksmith that can replace both keys

Also, when a friend locked his keys in his car, the AA used a little inflatable pillow to allow them to get something through the gap to press the lock rocker in the door.

Google search found this

Google search: Lost Toyota mark keys

A decent automotive locksmith will make short work of entry via the door lock barrel - wont take lock to pick it with the correct tool.
