Hi - can anyone advise me where the internal alarm sensors are on my RAV4 Business Edition Hybrid? I have had several activations which I'm certain have been set off by an insect of some description crawling or fluttering by after they have hitched a ride. My neighbour has a similar model and is also experiencing numerous activations. The neighbours aren't too chuffed !!..Thank you.

Isn't there an isolation button, probably near the map lights, which turns off the internal sensors. Your owners manual should cover this - which, if you haven't got one, you can download from Owner's Manual | Customer Information | Toyota UK

I don't know :0) ...I'll have a look in daylight - thank you.

Mine has gone off a few times randomly over the last few months … I’ve checked to see if anything is crawling or flying about in the cabin but there wasn’t … I’ve also hoovered out the sensors on the roof by the reading lights and the problem still exists.
Are there any other sensors other than the 2 on the roof console ?

I’m sure the holes in the red circle are the alarm .. and I also hoovered the slits circled blue …I don’t think there alarm related but I did it anyway….

is there anything else I can hoover or try 😊

The things circled in red are, indeed, the intrusion sensors.

The things within the blue circle are the microphones and SOS speaker.

Low frequency noise will set it off. But not in an obvious way.

The sensors are ultrasonic and detect changes caused by movement.

So flies, moths, and other critters will set it off by their movements.

Low frequency noise caused by a variety of sources from aircraft to tractors cause soft furnishings in the car to vibrate and that movement is what sets the ultrasonic intruder detectors off.

Either way it sounds like they are too sensitive.

That said on my 2021 R4P it's never gone off.

Bats

I'm guessing but dusk is when bats come out. Ultrasonic cross chatter. Potentially because the ultrasonic sensors are too wide band and too sensitive.

Press the button ringed in yellow before you get out of the car ...

Mobile phones / devices with a sim card in left inside the vehicle can also trigger ultrasonic alarm sensors if the device is left switched on.

No idea if the sensors could be adjusted if the vehicle was plugged in.

Going through this with my 2014 at present, have resorted to pushing the button to disable internal sensors as a short term fix, it’s got a new Bosch Battery (under 12 months old), starts easily, so no obvious Battery issue, doesn’t do it during the day seemingly, plan is to smoke bomb it later in the week to kill any insects and arachnids inside as well as a good clean/vacuum.  It did it a while back and I killed a moth and thought it was done, apparently it wasn’t, and it’s been going on for a while (car is parked away from house) and one of the neighbours just mentioned it 😞
