Firstly my 2011 Toyota Aygo was struggling to start and had a fading Battery light on the dash, despite this the car still started and was running. After this I turned the car off and when trying to start it again the car didn’t start, it wasn’t turning over or cranking at all but the lights, radio, etc all worked in the car.

I then tried jump starting the car using a friends car and the car still didn’t start, whilst having it connected the lights on my car turned on and the the wipers started going off on their own, I’m assuming due to an over load on the Battery

Now none of the lights appear on the dash, no interior or exterior lights work, central locking doesn’t work but the car does crank however it doesn’t turn over.

Due to my knowledge the car’s ECU is fried or some fuses have blown and the car isn’t starting due to spark plugs.

Any help or tips would be much appreciated and thank you for reading.

NOTE:

1. Battery can not be over loaded.  Its not like you connect 400 AMP to an electronic or Battery, then that thing will try to utilise all 400Amp whenever possible.  Electronic or Battery will only take currents or wattage up to a certain point.  Above such, it simply doesn't utilise them.  E.g:  A light bulb is rated at 55w.  Even if you hook it up to a 2000w supply, it will only take 55w from the 2000w supply.

2. Jump start is not always conclusive.  One, it depends on the connection at the clamp.  Two, if a battery is crazy flat, it will require insane amount of current to start the car.  Often time, you might need to hook up the jump lead a good 10+ minutes before you can get any reaction from the starter.

3. wiper blade / headlight is not controlled by ECU (Engine Control Unit).  It is controlled by Body Control Module (BCM).

Anyway, back to the question.  I would start by removing the car battery, hook it up to a car battery repair charger and see if that battery is salvageable.  (The fact that battery light came on, is the car telling you that the alternator is not supplying enough power to charge the battery.)

Next, use a car battery tester to test the battery.  If the battery is bad, consider buy a new one or borrow a good one from someone else.  The reason is: You can not diagnose a car without a good battery.

Install the battery into the car, pay attention to the parasitic draw.  To which, you'll need either a multimeter or better a DC clamp meter.  If the draw is normal (below 0.3 Amp), try to start the car.  If the draw is crazy high, go to the fuse box and see which fuse is drawing the power.

Where are you specifically?

If you are close to me in Burnley I will come and read your fault codes with Delphi if you want.

I would say it has been reverse jump-started

get a new Battery, the correct one for the car

can you hear the fuel pump prime, do you have a spark?

check the hidden Alternator fusible link, these do blow when jump-started if you are not careful
