Rear seat sensors

Can anyone help. When my nearside rear passenger seats there is no bleeping or warning showing on my dashboard whether they are clipped in or not with the seat belt. Offside rear and front are working OK. The nearside seat belt warning and bleeping stopped working a few days ago

Do you have kids?

I don't know but guess that there are two parts to a rear seatbelt reminder system:

  1. A weight switch to indicate whether there is anyone sitting in the seat. Clearly if the weight switch on the nearside has become 'disconnected' the system won't detect anyone sitting on that side and hence won't issue an alert.
  2. A microswitch on some form within the seatbelt buckle itself that opens or closes to indicate that the seatbelt is buckled up. If some little darling has poured 'glue' into the buckle that might have interfered with the operation of said switch.
