Apple play

Hi all , hope we are all enjoying our uc! Son just got a newer car than me and the Apple play screen thing in his car is great I want one has anyone got one ? Did you take something out to fit it in ? Obv I want as cheap as poss, I see they sell units on Amazon presume they just go somewhere like a sat nav or a phone ? Thanks in advance

check this out. Apple CarPlay (and Android Auto) with no compromise in quality in sound quality. if you don’t want to periodically extract your headunit for any replacement issues, go Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood or even Sony with CarPlay capability and gain a reverse camera in doing so. Unbranded cheap units are riskier and could lead to frustration / disappointment. There are aftermarket CarPlay tablet devices that you can place on the dashboard,(will look messy with trailing wires into the cigarette lighter etc) and most look tacky. a nice project would be a flush integration of decent looking CarPlay dash tablet but that would require drilling!  overall a headunit upgrade best , very straightforward - even running the reverse camera wiring, connecting to fm aerial, steering wheel controls & usb cable you can run to glove compartment for your iPhone or Android device (lightning / usb-c).
