AVAS has already been done to death in previous topics.

Please return to this topic's subject - tyre wear.

Why?! Why do you have even 1 version of it!??!?

I quite like it, though I've not listened to it for a long time (until just now) as I don't listen to music much these days. They are buried in my music folder (over 6GB, 1,000 files) and dated December 2008, so history really.

I've no idea how I acquired them. There's Radio edit, Bounce mix, Bounce mix instrumental and Reservoir frog mix. I should probably get the headphones out and see what's what sometime 🤪

You're sick man, sick!!

BTW, does anyone know what tyres have the best starting tread depth?

I thought the standard was 8mm for summer tyres, but I've been seeing 5-6 mentioned for some tyres, e.g. the Michelin ePrimacy, which seems a bit rubbish...

Of course, I wasn't criticising the visually impaired or the deaf.

I hoped that was obvious from the context of rest of my post,as in I was talking about the wilful ignoring of moving vehicles by the completely able bodied

In most cases it's not the body that's the problem ....

I am still trying to pluck up the courage to gamble on different tyres on my YC to reduce the road noise

If you check out blackcircles.com and enter your registration you can check out the tyre rating based on fuel efficiency / noise etc. Hankook come out with a low dB and good fuel economy. They have good reviews as well.  If you can get a tyre that isn't XL (reinforced) then you will also get a slightly softer ride but it can be difficult to get non XL as wheel size increases.

It'd be worth seeing what other people on here use that they find quieter - The noise rating of tyres is for EXTERNAL noise and in my experience, a tyre with a lower noise rating is often noisier in the car than one with a high rating!

I must say I just switched to Michelin Primacy 4's and was expecting a noticeable reduction in noise, from the reviews, but frankly they've made virtually no difference to my ears...!

As Cyker says - which gels with my findings - the correlation between a tyre's 'drive-by' noise rating and the car interior noise is minimal. On other cars I've had a very good experience (ride/noise) with a straight swap to all-season tyres, even with the same external noise rating as the summer ones they replaced

There's a whole thread of mine regarding changing wheels/tyres, but my conclusion was that changing my YC's Excel's 18-inch wheels/tyres to 16-inch with Goodyear all-seasons made the ride a whole lot better on my local abysmal (and getting worse) roads, and also reduced road noise noticeably. I'm garaging the original wheels/tyres, will be refitted when I sell

The courage is one think, the correct choice is another.
If you are after reducing the road noise from the tyres there is only one option that will do for you, replace your summer tyres with all season v shaped ones like Michelin cross climates or Goodyear vector 4 seasons. , anything from this category v shaped will reduce road noise , particularly the one caused by rough asphalt, the majority of uk road network.
You gonna get 2-3 mpg penalty but totally different nvh levels. Also may notice just a tiny but harsher drive over sharp potholes as all season tyres has stronger carcass structure.
If you go for pure Sumer tyres straight canals the road noise difference between different brands might not be so pronounced.
Since you have an icon model equipped with 16” wheels ypu have limited tyres choice as many of these sizes are for vans , you can buy Hankook all season and these are great tyres that will suit your car perfectly and give you safer drives during winters. 🛞👌

Don’t know what happened there, this was stuck in the editor 🤷🏻‍♂️.  I changed both Continentals on the Yaris and I think they were Good Years on the Cross to CCs and Continental all season respectively which resulted in softer and quieter ride in both cases.  I’ve changed from the notoriously noisy run flat (Bridgestone I think) to Good Year all seasons on the Lexus.  They are much quieter in normal use but I won’t have them again because they do a strange resonating when pulling hard up hill.  I’ve now got brand new wheels and tyres with 11 miles on that I’ve not decided what to do with - put them back on if I trade it I suppose.  The nearly new slightly worn 16 inch Contis are available at a bargain basement price to anyone on here.
