RAV4 PHEV Intelligent Octopus Go smart charging failures

Has anyone experienced intermittent failure of Ohme/Intelligent Octopus Go charging sessions. I experience about 10% failure rate where  the session totally fails to happen even though an overnight smart charging session seems to be set up correctly both on the charger and Ohme app….nothing happens. ( there is not a conflicting charging session setup on the cars system).

I have this set up, and an observation I have made is that if you go back to the car after plugging in and locking, when you unlock the charge port plug unlocks too (as it is supposed to), and in doing so it 'disengages' from the ohme and the smart plan. Although the charge port may lock again when the car is relocked, this doesn't automatically reengage with ohme/octopus/smart charging.

I have gotten into the habit of opening the charge port door, locking the car, then plugging in to ensure I see the port lock. If going back the car, I remove the charge plug and repeat the process (lock car, then plug in). You will get a 2nd ohme app update on your phone, and sometimes the smart schedule changes from the first one, but that is up to octopus and it's Kraken whims.

Could this potentially be causing your issue?

Really useful and intuitive comment, I can’t say for certain if this event coincides with my failures but will try  and mimic it over 5he weekend, thanks for taking the trouble to reply

I have the same issue with Octopus Intelligent Go but I use a Zappi charger, not Ohme. Having reported this to Octopus several times, all they really suggest is remove the integration from the mobile app and add it back in again but I'm beginning to suspect it's the car that's the problem and not Octopus. From what I can tell, the errors that are produced seem to suggest that Octopus is correctly instructing the Zappi to start charging the car but the car rejects the charge request. I've had this happen probably 8-10 times in the last 6 months and typically the failures always occur when I need the car charged up the most. I'm not sure if it's worth mentioning this to Toyota as I'm sure they'll just blame Ocotpus/Zappi.

This is the problem when there are a number of actors involved in the process. I have requested Ohme to interrogate the charger but having done this( superficially at least) their immediate reaction was to blame the car but have escalated the issue to their technical team.. not holding my breath. Last resort might be to use it as a dumb charger and schedule the car to charge between 23:39 and 05:30 but not sure if  can still avail of the Octopus 6p/ kWh rate if I do this…probably not

Are you getting a 6p overnight rate?? I'm 'only' getting 7p! I know rates can vary around the country, but I thought that was usually more commonly the standing charge.
