Hi. Just joined the forum after taking delivery of a RAV4 plug in hybrid.

I had my Toyota charger fitted recently and am struggling to set the scheduling for the overnight electricity rate. I've tried setting it in the car and it doesn't work. Ive tried using the toyota app and again no success. I'm plugging the charger in, locking the car and then when I check it, I get a message saying the charger needs to be unplugged and plugged in again for charging to commence. Can anyone help please?

thank you

Welcome.

I have a problem with setting the car, this is a bit long winded so bear with me.

To gain on my night time tariff, the car is set to start charging at 2am every day and on the MyToyota App it shows that the plug is plugged in by showing a plug symbol imposed on the Battery in MyGarage, so it's recognised it's plugged in with power on and ready to charge so all's good there.

With it being night time I have the phone on silent but in the morning it tells me that "Charging interrupted (3)" but the times don't match it's set charging time, for example some of the few times it's happened recorded on the app, at 2315, 0013, 0033, 0034.

As you can see these times are well before the pre-set time so why can this be happening? At first I thought it was just an odd glitch but it is far too regular to dismiss such a reason. Sometimes it does charge okay but so often it doesn't so I was getting a little fed up going out to a car that hasn't charged, it sort of defies the object of having a PHEV.

Now the summer time tariff starts at 2300hrs so I re-set the time schedule on the car and it's never failed but I know when winter returns I will have problems.

My thoughts are that the car internal time settings can't cope with it having a following day schedule.

I've tried to go through MyToyota but they were useless and they dropped me like a stone when I gave them the VIN number and they realised it was a Greek car even though they were going to pass this on to Toyota Europe Brussels.

I also find Mygarage just as useless regarding the charging regime.
