OK, I have part exchanged my Yaris for the above and vowed never to buy "bits & pieces" for the new car and to run it standard.

So far, I've ordered...

Wind jammers for the windows

Door handle anti scratch pads

Arm rest pad

Hydraulic hood lifters

Auto door lock/unlock (transfer from Yaris)

And this add-on to the rear wiring from Amazon Japan

IIRC the Yaris Cross should already have the door handle anti scratch pads factory fitted on the front doors.

They were £1.98 for four so they will be used on the MX5 if "spare"!

It raises the arm rest by a couple of inches and is padded.

152hobby - The rear lights come on with the brake lights - compare the top and bottom pic on the last photo.  It's a bit like the old "spot the difference" competitions

Err, why would you need the lights to come on with the brake lights, can’t you just turn the lights on ?

Could do then DRL's dim. Think it's better to have more advice of braking to the idiot behind who is driving too close.  Modern tail/brake/Indicator units seem to be getting smaller and LED'S aren't always as easily seen.

The Cross brake lights are very good Jeff but I have noticed that some cars use both and it does look good 👍

From the Japlish translation, I “think” the rear lights come on all the time the ignition is on.   My Mazda DRL have front and rear lights lit all the time.

Never understood why other makes only have front DRL

Bought a front/rear camera as below SP_IMG_0499.thumb.jpeg.1b2b8ae55415bcadcb8d01b2e1614ed6.jpeg

Came with the wiring kit to enable parking mode but as you know taping into the fuse box can be a bit awkward.

I spotted this on Amazon Japan site which will make connecting things easier

Tap image to enlarge. Translation via camera app Japanese to English.

Also includes a room light tap to wire in a rear seat roof light.

Not sure if Viofo (reliable make 👍), do a OBD2 power cable !!

I know only use these with Nextbase and ThinkWare dashcams, as I've read stupid stories about if you hardwire a Dashcam in your car, it's classed as a modification and you have to inform your insurance company and not to mention Toyota using it as any excuse, should there be an issue.  Even though, they will hardwire a Dashcam in your Toyota for a price

Always tell your insurance company of any mods - they always ask when you enquire and often ask at renewal. If you say "none" to the question and it's a fib, then you are open to the policy being voided. What else had you not told them?

50 years in the industry and I've seen a lot - such as an internal UK light aircraft flight that had an engine failure and came down in a reservoir, and everyone on board was wearing a life jacket!

A nicer option than my cigarette packet wrapped in pvc tape.

Economically priced (assuming the packet is empty). Full, my pad is cheaper!

I’m running the same cameras.  Getting the wires through the umbilical into the boot is a challenge but I’ve done loads now so I’m a dab hand at it and you can work through that big aperture in the head lining.   The buttons on the camera resonate so I’ve got a weak elastic band on them.  The lights could do with being a bit brighter too because it doesn’t always power up and you can’t tell in good daylight.

The camera instructions recommend going along the footwell route to avoid the curtain airbags. On a solid roof, I’d go down the centre but I’ve ordered the pano roof so a bit concerned about routing of the wires.  I’ll see when the car arrives.
