Hi,

With the Aygo 1.0L petrol, would a 550CCA 64Ah be safe to fit, previous Battery a piddling 420CCA 44Ah etc?

Thanks

George

Fitting a bigger Battery won't cause an issue, but check the dimensions of it & the Battery posts (pos + neg) are in the correct position.

I fitted a type 063 to our similar Mk1 107, as you say get more CCA, more choice (silver types etc) and better prices/value, you can even go bigger some peeps have, but no need, the 063 is popular Mk1 Battery upgrade.

I have had a 027 640 CCA 64 AH Battery in mine, for about three years now. About as big as you can get IIRC

BTW, You have to turn it backwards for terminals

Just use the original  size 44Ah.
Fitting larger size batteries is common practice that brings Battery problems in the future, depending on driving style and patterns . You can jump up to 55Ah but 64, 70 or above it’s not what your alternator is designed to feed and you may end up of slowly killing your Battery as the Battery can’t get properly charged.

I'm pro with fitting a larger Battery if the owner desire. Once fitted a larger Battery to an old fiesta by 15ah+, the crank was instant compare to the delay of the standard Battery (old), great for winter. Had to cut/saw off the battery plastic case to fit, it was an old car so do as i pleased.
