ECU Recall

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi, I am new to all this, but will try and keep it brief!

Toyota Proace City Icon - went in for it's ECU recall, running as it should before and as soon as it was picked up broke down. AA called out to tow back to the garage AA plugged in and came back with the following fault codes;

P151A,P0017,P050B,P06B8 & U2FFF.  As I am not mechanically minded I am a little unsure as to what these all mean, but my question is, if the recall wasn't carried out correctly could it cause these faults if it doesn't pick up the sensors. The garage were trying to blame wrong oil used during servicing, but the correct oil was used which I have proven. Originally they said we needed a new fuel pump & cambelt, then they said the cam chain had snapped, now they are saying a new engine is needed. Like I have already mentioned there was absolutely nothing wrong with the vehicle before it went for the recall. I have attached the AA readings and also the readings the garage took when it was recovered back to them. Thanks in advance.

Did you get the fault fixed? The Toyota Fault code document is dated May 2024 and shows great variations in the 12v voltage for each of the codes.

No it is currently still at the garage, they have only just recently(last week) informed us it needs a new engine.

"shows great variations in the 12v voltage for each of the codes." sorry not sure what this means.

Thanks

Peugeot in disguise.

Is this a DV5 engine by chance?

Known issue with the cam chain snapping - PSA France offer 100% coverage for vehicles less than 5 years old OR less than 150,000 km.

Engine design was updated end of Jan 2023.

I smell BS, someone doesn't know how to code or set up the ECU, and I doubt that the engine is a problem - if I were a betting man I would say they have flashed the ECU without it being on a Battery maintainer

even the codes are telling them it is a bricked ECU of course it's going to throw loads of random codes - get customer services involved asap, ask for a senior tech to look at it

Thanks for responding, yes it is a DV5 engine. I have relayed your useful information to the service Manager at the Toyota garage and he is now dealing with Toyota UK, I've just got to wait for a response!!

Thanks for responding, apparently a Battery maintainer was used during the recall, whilst speaking to the service manager I mentioned about the codes, again this is going to be looked into... I don't hold out much hope tbh.
