Hate low profiles but want the additional benefits of Vision. Any body driven both? What's a radiant heater? Why do I want one

Posted

I've driven neither, but neither have low profile tyres and I doubt that there will be any appreciable difference in ride. Test drive both and decide for yourself - if the difference is in any way significant, you'll be able to tell pretty quickly.

"If the weather is cold outside, the cabin climate can be quickly warmed up with new radiant heater, provided as standard on the High grade bZ4X. Installed below the steering column and instrument panel, this provides rapid warmth around the driver and front passenger’s lower legs and feet – occupants will feel the benefit quickly from start-up."

Conventional car heating systems heat the air in the car which transfers warmth to the occupants by convection - it heats the whole car (eventually).

A radiant heating system 'radiates' warmth as infra-red from the heater to the occupants without bothering to heat up the air in between. So, it is more efficient and provides warmth more quickly. Outdoor cafes etc use radiant 'patio' heaters to keep the punters warm (without heating the whole neighbourhood).

So that's why you might want one - on the other hand, you might not really care ... 😉

Done today. Don't like the wheels and tyres but no option. I have always had heat to feet and legs in many cars including Toyota hybrids.

I have had Luxus or Toyota since 2000 , five to date. Always early adopter ahead of release. This is the first I have driven the model purchased before collection. Even this couldn't drive specific model

The Lexus IS 2000  the last 2Lrear wheel straight 6 was a delight. But impractical as I aged. Gen 2 Prius very practical. Good deal as needed for athletes in some games so pre ordered a Gen3. Disliked the Gen 3 but Uber wanted  so pre ordered a very practical Auris TS. Change in tax rules Prius gen4 my last car again ordered unseen.  Love it but showing its age so once again my last car is Toyota.  I waited for  the Gen 5 Prius got fed up so looked at electric BZ4X. Tested Honda Eny1 and Nx300E. Nx too small and disliked cockpit layout best to drive.

Honda best spec and size but poor drive.

Bz4X Vision hobsons choice. If you live in the sticks no chance to shop around. but eventually got a deal. Someone will get a good deal with my Prius which still makes smiles for miles every drive  after 8 years.

New tech I trust Mr T got it right for my last car (again).  I took my test in  Ford Pop in 1962 and have driven and owned loads of cars in many environments.  Best , most practical SAAB 96 kept 20 years. Cannot think of worst Studi Hawk , Sunbeam Avenger Est. or mk2 Landrovers, J2, Volvo  3 speed Lhd or Ford Pop? Thank god they don't build em like they used to.
