Evening all, forgive the stupid question. I thought the Corolla icon was only available in the 1.8l engine. I'm being told that Toyota did make a 2 litre version in Icon trim for a short time. Can someone confirm if this is true please, I'm looking at purchasing a June 21 registered Icon. Thanks!

Pretty sure all grades were and are 1.8 and 2.0 options? V5 would have it correct and the 2.0 has the flappy paddles and up/down "shift" on the gear selector.

I've done a search on auto trader and can only find the touring / estate version on 2l not the standard hatchback

You can still buy an Icon 2.0l hybrid hatchback

Obviously, as an extra ~£1800  cost as a % of sales I would expect fewer 2.0 Icons than 1.8s

Ive phoned a Toyota dealer in the north east and they say icon hatchback has never been available in 2 litre!

Thanks for all responses

The Corolla icon has been available in 2.0 for the last few years in the UK, although most order the 1.8. Both engines got an upgrade in 2023, the 1.8 improved the most that year. Remember in 2021-2022-2023 they were hard to get with very long waits, up to nearly a year for the 2.0 so likely not many used around

They've clearly not seen the ones for sale on Autotrader then 😄

It seems pre 2023 the 2L was never available in Icon trim. 2023 onwards Icon(the very basic model) was dropped and Icon Tech became the new Icon which is available with both 1.8 and 2L engines

Well the dealer is selling me a 21 plate Icon 2 litre so they're either not being straight or it is indeed. I think they were made and sold but in fewer numbers to the 1.8l

It might be Icon Tech

Why don't you check it here https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history

Actually other way round Icon tech was dropped at 72 plates. Icon is still available as a 24 plate/current offer.

Not completely sure about Icon 2.0L availability as a current option but there are loads of 2021 and 2022 plate Icon 2.0L for sale online atm. Fewer post facelift but still some.

All the vehicles above are TS, not hatchback. Maybe that's where the confusion is?

Fewer 2.0 Icon hatchbacks than tourers currently for sale but they do exist (apparently since 2020/21 according to the pricelist supplied in post above). Always buyer beware though - check everything carefully I've seen plenty of incorrect adverts!

Yes  so certainly 2020 all TS and hatchback grades available with 1.8 and 2.0.

Only model that wasn't was the saloon version which was only on sale for a short ish time in UK.

If it has flappy paddles and a gear shifter with S and +/- it's a 2.0.

No flappy paddles and a B on selector it's a 1.8

If it's a 4 door saloon it's a 1.8

True.  One here for sale in Peterborough, £ 19 grand 2022 White Toyota Corolla 2.0 VVT-h GPF Icon Touring Sports 5dr Petrol Hybrid CVT Euro 6 (s/s) (184 ps) for sale for £19,000 in Peterborough, Northamptonshire (autotrader.co.uk)

I think it's just an unusual combination because the buyers who want a bit more power are usually the same ones who want extra equipment. It's a bit like when I bought my Skoda superb and the dealer struggled to find a 2.0 with manual for test drive - most people go for DSG, but I'd already tried one of those and wasn't happy.
