Hi all hope everyone ok been a few weeks since been on here

OK my son been driving his car for a cupl months and loves it . We sorted out the brakes and drums . All new even said he's getting more miles out of it now than his 1st cupl fill ups .. so that's even better .

Now I spotted this an forgot about it and I seen it today so I thought I'd ask

When he turns on the car on dash lights up  and the engine coolant light stays on once all have gone off its green light . Once he drives off after a minute the light goes off . Now we checked the level when we checked the car over and the tank is just below( 3/4) full .so we checked it again today still the same . We checked it when hot and cold . .

Is this light normal to stay on a bit of does it go off when all the others do .

If there is somthing wrong  there it no over heating or high temp reading  light does not come on when driving or stopped while we driving in traffic .

So if there is somthing wrong do you guys know what . Or if its normal

Cheers all

What car?

I can only relate what happens with my car. The engine coolant light remains on until the engine has reached a set temperature - it's blue in my car. It only takes a couple of miles before it goes out.

If the engine overheats it will illuminate and remain on, I think red. If it flashes, on/off the engine is approaching an overheat state.

Which is presumably not the Aygo in your details, so it would be a good idea to remind us what it is exactly.

Normal and usually only small cars without temperatures gauge has these blue coolant lights. When light is illuminated means the engine its cold and to drive more gently up to 3000rpm for example and avoid harsh acceleration.
