Avensis T25 Reinforced rear suspension

Hi all,

My rear suspension needs replacing: the gap between the rear wheelarch liner and the wheel is different from left to right. The RHS seems to be hanging lower, the coil is all cracked. The car hasn't failed its last MOT though.

Checking places like GSF and ECP I can see there are two different set ups available: normal coils and shock absorbers and reinforced versions for regions with bad roads (Ireland, Russia, Turkey).

Has anyone fitted the reinforced version or have any experience with it? I do tend to load up the car quite a bit as I am renovating house atm but also when we go on holiday etc.

If I fit the reinforced version, what should I expect?

I will suggest you buy springs KYB and shocks from the same brand or sachs.
Don’t go for reinforced suspension set up, it will change the car smoothness. Always change both sides L and R. Buy rubber support mounts only original Toyota. Change boot and foam protectors of old and cracked.
If you really want to change suspension set up you need all 4 corners to be new and of the same type , reinforced or sport or whatever but no mix and match in between.

Many Thanks for your reply. Looks like KYB coils are only available on Autodoc atm.

What exactly is the rubber support mount? Can you highlight this part on this diagramm please?

You don’t have these sorry but anything that springs seats on and if it’s rubber or foam and if it’s worn out replace with oem Toyota or sachs . My point is that don’t buy cheap unknown brands and particularly febest from auto doc. Auto doc kyb are good quality. I bought from them my rear springs.

Perfect, thanks!

I can see a set for £30 from Sachs. I will get them as well.

Do you know if we have to pay the import tax when ordering from Autodoc?

Last time I had ordered from these guys was 2022 and I didn’t need to pay anything extra, like import duty or any taxes. 👍
