Auris Touring 2016 1.2 petrol flutter?

Hi, wondering if some knowledgeable people on here have any ideas with the following. Just picked up a 2016 Auris Touring Sports Icon with the 1.2 petrol engine. It's at 100k miles and drives fine overall. I am getting a flutter sometimes at higher speeds. Having read up on EGR and turbo issues it does not seem to be either of these - it sounds fine at idle. No engine warning lights coming up. Could this just be crud from sitting in dealer compounds for a couple of months with a low tank, a sign that spark plugs need replacing, or something else?

It doesn't also get a bit of rumble at startup and when it is time to move up a gear, but I have assumed this is what the turbo does normally (if not let me know!).

Any ideas greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hi,

best way to get suggestions is to record a video with all sounds and rumbling and share with us.
What you have described can be a fuel air mixture related issues, and yes very likely as a result of the car been seated in the dealer forecourt for a while. Egr or turbo related problems will come up at speed not at idle.
Spark plugs intervals are 60000 miles, assuming the car been properly serviced you have another 20k before next replacement. These can last a lot longer, however if the car needs service right now ., new oil and filters which if haven’t been done in the last 12 months highly recommended to do you can buy a set of original Toyota plugs from dealer only and replace them too.
Get yourself a wynns fuel additives. A very good one is catalytic converters and lambda sensor cleaner. Add this to max 30 ltrs of petrol and take the car in a motorway journey of minimum 30 minutes drive, longer is better and do few hard accelerations when safe to do so, no need to break speed limits or car limits, just quickly accelerate to the desired speed to create pressure in exhaust system and clean it. Use only E5 97 or 99 premium petrol.
Check and replace air filter and you most likely gonna fix your problems and enjoy better running engine. 👍

I dont get any turbo rumble at startup on mine. Its a cvt with 29k on clock.

The 1.2t 8nr-fts engine has no EGR valve.

Keep an eye on the oil level, for any consumption, plus what tony said.
