and I'm besotted with it as well as overwhelmed by it! - probably because it's 17 years since I bought my last Citroen C1 cool.  I have so much to learn re the technology too.  Anyway, I bought it from a main Toyota dealer at the weekend, got my receipt (cash payment), waiting for the log book to come, paid my insurance, year's road tax.  I need to go back to work out the app side of things.

I was wondering though (and something I didn't check with the handover) how much is left on the warranty and how much time I have for free breakdown recovery.  Does anyone know who to ask, as I didn't get any paperwork related to this?

Thanking you in advance.

Hi Michelle,Congratulations on purchasing your Aygo.Regarding the warranty and breakdown coverage, since you bought the car from a Toyota dealer, it should come with 12 month warranty and 1 year Toyota assist. You need to contact the dealer and ask them to confirm these details..😃

If it is a 2 year old Aygo X (as per the topic subject), it should come with a 12 month warranty and probably 1 year Toyota Assist (breakdown cover). Check with the supplying dealer.

NB: your profile is showing as a 2013 Aygo - so this needs amending.

Thank you everyone.  I'm going this weekend anyway to sort the app out with them too and I'll mention this.  I just want it in writing.  🙂

As said, you need to check this with the dealer cos although in the main these things are standard, they can alter slightly dealer to dealer and also from car sale to car sale. If your going back anyway gives you time to familairise yourself with the car and get a list of queries you need them to answer. In my experience, handovers can be good and detailed or poor and rushed, our last main dealer one was for our Peugeot 108, and considering at the time Peugeot customer service was supposidly very poor, ours was pretty good. Also have good read of the Owner's Handbook and check everything works as it should, if not then more for the list.

Enjoy your new Aygo X, we still got our Mk1 and we got the newer Mk2 as well, the Mk2 is big improvement and the Aygo X is another level again, even more tech but some of it is lawmaker's requirements unfortunately. The days of basic, simple, and relatively cheap cars like the Mk1 are long gone, mores the pity!

Thank you!  I still would've kept my Citroen C1 cool, but I can't keep paying out and paying out.  I've already spent £300+ on it this year and I could predict a similar sum in the very near future.  It's falling apart.  It's still taxed until next June and MOT'd until Feb 2025, so I'm hanging on to it as well as long as.

I love the MK2!

Whatever you decide to do with your old Citroen C1, remember they are making good money at the moment, for example a local independant car dealer had an 09 C1 on forecourt for £2.5k and it sold within a few weeks compared to some his other cars, diesels etc., so don't be tempted to sell it for 'scrap' money cos probably worth a bit more. If like our 08 Peugeot 107, your C1 although old is a low tax, petrol and ULEZ compliant car so all plus points at the moment and of course the reliable toyota mechanicals, probably why I see so many of the very old triplets still going many even older than ours!

Thank you.  Webuyanycar quoted £300 for it.  It's not in great shape.  It's has two dents either side of it, the A/C is hit and miss, water leaks into the boot and back seat, the driver's door doesn't lock so you have to lock it from the passenger side and it creaks/clunks going over bumps.

That's basically scrap money, you would get more selling it privately even with the issues. The rear water leaks are common on the Mk1 and can be a cheap/easy fix, resealing lights etc. and the aircon may just need regas or new seals. The cosmetic damage if not too bad may just be a sign of age, we bought a few old runaround cars in past, which were mechanically good but had age related dents/blemishes, but that expected by independant car dealers and buyers at the lower end of the market and the prices reflected that although in recent years even old runaround car prices have gone up like many others. I did the same few years ago, didn't even offer our 25 year old Fiesta to dealer when buying our used Peugeot 108 from main dealer cos knew they would not be interested and offer silly money and got a lot more selling it privately and more than £300 as well and that was 6 years ago and car prices only gone one way since then.

I've had a whole host of problems since purchasing my car; so much so I wish I'd never bought it now!  First, I took out insurance for it starting from the day of collection of the car, then the next day I was driving along the motorway (just 3 miles in), when a stone flipped up and cracked the entire windscreen.  I thought, "That's OK, my insurance will cover that", but no it didn't because I only took out bronze cover and I had to pay £1500 yesterday for a new windscreen.  Now, when I drive it it's rattly and noisy, which wasn't like it when I drove off from the forecourt.  The dealer I bought it from is quite a way away, so I'll have to take it to another dealer for inspection, closer to home.  Wish I hadn't bothered now buying one.  Everything's gone wrong since I bought it 🤦🏻‍♀️.  If this keeps up I'll have to get a refund for it as it's only two weeks in and I've two weeks left if I want to return it 😢

NeedANewerCar....  for a bit of context I'm in the motor trade (supposed to be retired but still working three days a week with my partner!).  Anyway, in my experience if a customer is unhappy with a car in the first week or two it never gets better. You will always be unhappy with it. My advice is to get a full refund (less a mileage deduction). Then use the cash to buy something different - Picanto, i10 or Up/Mi/Citigo spring to mind.....

The £1500 windscreen is a suprise, but I don't know the circumstances. Far more than I would expect to pay though!

Thank you, Mr Fixer.  I think you're right.  I wish I'd never bought it now.  I've been saving 10 years for a newer car and thought the time for another was now.  Wish I'd never bought it.  What happened was, because I've never had a car in my name before (it was always someone else), I just took out comprehensive insurance casually and with the cheapest price.  Within that week of my owning it, my windscreen got cracked from a stone along the motorway and when I tried to claim, the insurance said the cover I'd chosen didn't include windscreens as I missed it off, horror of horrors!  It's just getting worse, my predicament.  I've now taken out an additional policy to cover this new windscreen.  When I asked the insurance company if I decided to go to another insurer, they said, "You could, but they won't cover it as the crack is an existing problem and not new".

Also, it's started to make a rattling noise when I drive it.

Mine rattles a bit near the dashboard, but then I'm used to Aygos rattling, and actually I think mine rattles less than the others did.

Time you brought yourself up to date with the 2015 Consumer Rights Act.

First 30 days is a full refund. Only after 30 days is the seller allowed to deduct monies for mileage.

Or does your garage not follow the law?

You need to wind your neck in my friend. I am very well aware of CRA 2015 and I didn't mention it in my post because it doesn't apply here.  CRA 2015 provides a right to return the car within the first 30 days where there is a fault or the car is not as advertised.  In this case the OP has not actually experienced a fault and it seems just doesn't get on with the car so would be returning it under the dealer's own 'goodwill' refund/exchange policy. They may or may not make a mileage charge or a charge for damage/valeting, its up to them and outside the scope of the CRA. It will be in their T&Cs.

In the case of my business we offer a 14-day/1000 mile no-fault 'satisfaction' guarantee.  14-30 days the CRA 2015 applies (the car must obviously exhibit a fault).  Beyond 30 days we attempt repair etcs as per the guidelines. Yes, we follow the law....
