Faulty fuel level on display.

Hi, recently, the fuel "range" on the MFD on the dash doesn't seem to show the correct range left based on the level of fuel. It works sporadically; for a long time it worked (after initially not working) and after parking uphill, it suddenly dropped down to 58 miles (from 160ish miles). It now won't go back to a realistic reading. Sometimes it will randomly work as I'm driving. I fuelled up the car today so it should read 400+ miles or so but it reads 58 instead. The actual fuel gauge seems to be fine but now I don't know whether to trust it given the fuel sensor may be faulty?

Any help or advice appreciated 🙂

Add some additives to the fuel tank and drive it till its empty, fill it to the top and check again after.
