Bought An Auris 1.2 Icon Tech 2018 16k Miles

I have bought an Auris at the beginning of July, as above, lovely car, very happy with, well, everything. Super torquey little engine (much more than my previous 1.8 Valvematic Avensis), well screwed together. One quick question, should the engine have a plastic cover of any description (if so it didn't come with one)?

I got the car from a Toyota main dealer, one elderly lady owner, FMDSH, who had to give up driving so sold the car back to the original supplying dealer. Took me ages to find one of these as, primarily, they tend to be Hybrids. Worth the wait though.

Well done and looks a lovely car.

I don't think there was a recall for the engine cover so it should have one.

Speak with the dealer who you bought it from and they can order you one or if too expensive try eBay etc.

Thanks; I checked with the dealer this morning and they stated these engines didn't come with a cover? Seems odd to me as I can see them on eBay?

Some Toyota Auris models do come with a plastic engine cover, especially in higher trims or specific engine configurations. The cover is mainly for aesthetic purposes, helping to tidy up the look of the engine bay and providing a small amount of noise insulation. However, not all models or trims include this cover as standard, especially in non hybrid versions or entry level trims.Give the dealer a ring and ask but I suspect it didn't come with one .🙂

I had a 1.2 a few years ago, not purchased new but approved used from a Main Dealer. it was a fairly high spec model, 2018 so towards the end of production and it didn't have an engine cover.

I assumed that it wasn't designed to as a cover may have obscured the intercooler.

Hi, nice car.
These 1.2t does come with covers on early models but seems not on all trims perhaps.
Not sure if there is any point of having a cover since the cover itself is so small. Here how it will look.
Enjoy your car and don’t worry about this cover. 👍

Thanks all for the replies; as it is a higher spec/trim model, maybe that's why no cover. No worries, just wondered. Cheers.

My 2016 has a cover and it has pins on the engine which it clips on to. Your engine doesnt seem to have those, so you still may not be able to fit it without them.
