Nick, I doubt the proto-troglodyte that was driving the Peugeot would have known your RAV4 is a PHEV.  I you asked him "do you know what a PHEV is? He would probably have thought it's a type of dance people do on Tik Tok.

There is so much bad driving everywhere these days. I don't think it correlates to any particular type, make of model of vehicle. You get ignorant, arrogant, degenerate buffoons in all types of car, cluelessly causing misery and mayhem for other drivers all over the road network. You just have to try your best to keep yourself, your passengers  safe from them.

You might have more luck than me if you have a clear shot of their face, but when I've submitted clips in the past via the website the police have been completely uninterested so I stopped bothering.

The Cops just don't have the time or resources to deal with it. It's not a good situation, but that's what it boils down to.

They do but they prefer to spend time on social media looking for people who make allegedly offensive comments.

Ha ha, yes I do like that, so that Two Tier Keir Stalin can bang 53 year old women up for 15 months, I definitely do take your point there. Although, the Cops really don't have time to deal with a lot of road crime. There are not enough of them to go round. They have to focus on incidents when people have been injured or killed. Of which there are many. (My son is a Traffic Cop, an "Interceptor", like on tele, their workload is overwhelming)

Probably not much to do with the make of car - more lack of policing and respect for the law in all its forms - here in Cornwall, we're having a major crash, sometimes two, every single day, with at least one motorcyclist being killed at the rate of at least one a week.  The Assistant Chief Constable is quoted as saying "we must have a debate" about the appalling incident rate, a "debate" for goodness' sake!

Strange thing is my Corolla is the first car I've had where this isn't a problem, despite me being quite a laid back driver. I think it's because the corolla has quite an agressive looking front end on it from some angles and people who generally don't know about cars thinks it has much more performance than it actually has and keep their distance.

My previous bmw/vw/skodas were magnets for these types of drivers though.

Maybe they think you're a psychotic minicab, so keep their distance? :whistling1:

My colleague gets something like that in his Auris a lot. I always laugh at the number of times people have tried to get in thinking he's their Uber

Concur with that. Have several ex police friends. All long retired from beat bobbies to commanders. They're just underfunded, under resourced and overwhelmed.

They're probably hostage to the politics. Debate is probably not the word they wanted to use I bet.

It's nothing vehicle specific. And it's nothing new - it has 'always' been this way. It's just worse than usual right now - I guess, since being retired I tend not to have to drive at the times and on the roads when the problem is at its worst.

First, we feel safe and cocooned in our modern cars. And since we feel invulnerable, we can treat our fellow road users with no more or even less than the courtesy they deserve.

Second, 21st century society is in a pretty bad way. From countries not respecting their neighbours' borders, rights and citizens, though "party politics", to a general air of disrespect and worse on social media and the like. You'd be forgiven for thinking that folk generally 'hate' each other right now.

The solution is in our hands - be more courteous and respectful towards other road users. More 'policing' isn't going to help.

I well remember noticing a dramatic improvement in road manners the day after Princess Dianna died. It didn't last that long but was very noticeable at the time. I do wonder what it will take this time - maybe WW3 ... 😉

Over the years I've owned/driven various Peugeot diesels, a Mondeo TDCi, a Skoda Octavia TDi, a Ford Galaxy, an Avensis estate and now a Corolla hybrid estate. A friend often says to me "Why do you insist on driving taxis when you're not actually a taxi driver?" 😂

When someone ask me-“ what is a good car to choose ?“ My answer often is

-“ look what taxi trade is using and you won’t go wrong “. 👍

Prius it is then.

Then again in the USA there are RAV4 taxis and it's popular with long distance couriers.

#Metoo.  Last one was an absolute case of Dangerous driving with evidence from both rear and front cameras.  (Overtaking two cars on a narrow, winding country road and a blind bend.)  They sent him a letter. I keep the cameras running more for defence in an insurance claim than for an absent police force. But the sign in in the back window does effectively make tailgaters back off.

Had a lot of cars over the many decades but other than the bright red and black Merc AMG my PHEV seems to attract nutters.

Driving down the M6 this week and it's 3 lanes with a 50mph speed limit and average speed cameras. I'm in the second lane overtaking what is a nearly full left hand / near side lane. I'm doing 50 or 51mph real and the lane on the left are doing 44 it 45mph. So I'm overtaking. There's a car in front and adaptive cruise is on. Some Peugeot nutter is a car length behind me flashing his lights at me. The outer lane is empty by the way and I'm overtaking a largely full inner lane maintaining pace with the car in front. I'm not sure what this idiot wants me to do TBH. Then he darts out to the outer lane and cuts right across me in front probably a few feet off the front of car trigger the bright red brake thing on the HUD. Violent aggressive manoeuvre. He is shaking his fist and making other hand gestures pointing at me then pointing to the inner lane as if to say get into the inside lane. W T F. I'm overtaking and I'm at the speed limit and I'm behind a car in front maintaining stopping distance via the adaptive cruise. There's a whole empty outer lane to over take available. He's particularly angry. Then he pulls into a gap in the inner lane and since this is now doing about 40 to 44mph I naturally pass him in the middle lane. This makes him more angry and more gestures follow and which is returned by suitable hand signals and a laugh. Is it just me or can some people just not drive and are too dangerous to be behind the wheel. Plus he doesn't know me or what I could do to him fairly quickly in a self defence situation. I like to think I'm a careful driver and courteous BTW. No accidents that have been my fault and only a couple that weren't and not in any way. I've been driving for nearly 4 decades and driven things up 50 tonnes. Even flown a few things.

This is not unique and seems to have occurred more with the PHEV than other cars. I've also noticed a pattern with the idiots and what they drive.

1. Pukegos (Peugeot) drivers

2. Land Rover & Range Rover drivers

3. Nissan SUV drivers (Quoshcow, eX Trail, Joke)

4. Hyundai SUV drivers

5. Audi drivers

Sometimes I wonder if this a "I bought the wrong car" envy or something else. What's wrong with these idiots?

Any similar patterns spotted?

Do RAVs make rage?

FWIW I’ve just traded my VW Passat for a new Suzuki Across. A week prior to trading I was driving up the A1M (three lanes) in Yorkshire in my Passat and experienced the exact same situation.. I couldn’t actually grasp, or believe what this guys problem was at first since I was actually overtaking traffic in lane 1 (at maybe 60/65) with my ACC set at just over 70, but he appeared to object to how I wasn’t overtaking fast enough Who knows??? … anyway he passed me In the third lane, swung in front of me beeping his horn and gesturing in the process… completely crazy and totally unnecessary behaviour! I could tell he was a pretty unsafe driver looking for trouble so I pulled out overtook him made some progress and joined lane 1, keeping a safe space from him. There are too many angry people, it’s not what you drive it’s happens to be how you just end up in their way even when you’re actually not - they’re looking for it!

Ugh had one right up me on the way home, I could practically see the bugs splattered on the front grille in the rear view! Ironically I'd taken what I thought was a quieter 'scenic' route to avoid whatever the heck was going on on the M1, but ended up with that jackhole trying to force me through a 30mph village.

Had a bit of fun with them though - As soon as we hit NSL I went full hooligan, caught them out and left them behind (People think CVTs are slow 'eh? Bwahaha), and although they caught up pretty quick toward the end of the straight run out of the village (Because of course it had to be some over-powered german SUV) they couldn't follow me though the narrow twisty bits :naughty:

Those new Primacy 4s got a good workout though I can tell you! I am amazed at how un-dangerous the Mk4 feels going round corners at high speed; No way would I have dared do that in the rolypoly Mk1/Mk2

Definitely need to rein it in a bit in that car... I should probably never be allowed near a GR4 as supposedly those are even more confidence inspiring!

But it was quite therapeutic after long annoying day! :whistling1:

Have I mentioned the Mk4 Hybrid Yaris is made of pure awesome?

The best way to deal with dangerous driving and avoid unnecessary road rage is to reduce your speed (do 60-65mph instead of 70-75mph), even if you need to be somewhere quick.
Get out off the way of these brainless creatures, do not try to keep up with traffic ( when accelerating to gain speed, no matter how fast you do there is always someone faster than you), just drive as you like and feel safe and efficient, keep longer distance to the vehicle in front.
No matter how poor others drive ,  you watch them and don’t get angry or upset, just keep yourself calm and be responsible for your own actions and try to compensate for the mistakes of the other road users.
This is what makes a good driver -  the best. 🏆

Relaxed driving style is easily achieved with any Toyota hybrid. ®️🇯🇵

I used to travel on a small A road which had a series of 30mph speed limits between NSL. Muppets would be right up my chuff during the 30 sections, I would then leave them behind in the NSL only for them to catch me up in the next 30. I would have let them pass, but they would have held me up in the NSL as they would only do 40 or so 🙄

Yeah I get those too - They just seem to be stuck at 40mph! 40mph through NSL, 40 through 30mph village, 40mph past 20mph school zone, 40mph through rest of 30 zone, 40mph back into NSL again!

I've heard of 1-speed transmissions but didn't think that's what it meant!

I too see a lot of this on my daily commute. Baffling.
