Small questions from new owner

I have a recently acquired 2016 2.0 litre Tourer which I love except for a couple of irritations I can't find any solution to - if indeed there is one...

Firstly there is an extremely annoying warning 'bong' which goes off at anything even 1 mph over a speed limit. I do adhere to limits but if you are in, say, a 40 mph limit and oscillate between 39 and 41 mph it seems to continually be going off - is there anyway I can turn this off ? Can't see it in the manual, it just says 'requires customising'

Secondly is there anyway to make the mirrors fold when I lock the car ? It's somewhat frustrating to have to remember every time to push the button before I turn the engine off

Trivial I know, but it's spoiling my general appreciation of the car !

Except of course for the pathetic touch screen - has anyone replaced it with a double DIN Andoid unit ?

TIA

Hi ,

for speed limits warning best to check owners manual.

For mirrors folding functions there is an option to set this on or off but I don’t remember how was made, again owners manual will help.
For double din android auto infotainment thete are good choices in Halfords and Amazon. Try to avoid cheap Chinese ones as they don’t have a good radio signal and good sound quality.
A simple obd 2 adapter with good phone app can help you do personal settings about mirrors, windows, interior lights set ups.
here an example Carista EVO - bluetooth Scanner and App: Diagnostics, Customizations, Service tools, and Live Data for your vehicle https://amzn.eu/d/fi5ttQW

Hi Ken,To turn off the speed limit warning bong, I would check the car's settings menu for an option labelled Speed Warnings or Over speed Alert. You might be able to adjust or disable it there. If you can't find the setting,it may be worth giving the Toyota dealer a ring, as they can likely do this for you.For the automatic folding mirrors, have a look in the Vehicle settings or car settings to see if you can enable the mirrors to fold automatically when you lock the car. If the feature isn't available in the settings, you could consider installing an aftermarket module to add this.If you're thinking about replacing the touchscreen with a double DIN Android unit, make sure the new unit is compatible with your car. It’s also a good idea to have the installation done professionally to make sure features like steering wheel controls and the reverse camera continue to work.😃

Yes, it can be turned off by disabling the Traffic Sign system

Afaik only by pressing the button before switch off or adding a 3rd party module, you'll get used to it.

Not sure which screen you have. Mine isn't bad for a 2017 (no doubt designed earlier) system but obviously current systems are faster etc. You might also want to check that it has been updated to the latest firmware.
