not wanting to Shell out the £440+ (£750 for the full kit with trims) for the 1 piece deck

I designed and made my own (around £30 in materials) after a lot of back and forth "adjusting" the board as tolerances don't need to be that tight as I found out it doesn't need to be a precision fit

Now the conclusion - the board isn't practical, you can't lift the board more the 150-200mm due to the width and the way the 1/4 trims are shaped - to remove or place the board you need to fold the back seat down to get the swing/clearance due to the fact the board is wider than the boot opening you need to maintain the deck width to pick up the mounting points and the same with the depth, even reducing the depth without compromising the mounting points you end up with a gap at the back of the seat and you still don't have clearance unless you fold the seat

TBH I have never seen the OEM one-piece deck board in the MK4 in the wild, so is the price high to stop people from buying them because they have design flaws ? is this the reason the cross has the 60/40 split boards?

The OEM deck board has a ‘hinge’ which, once folded, allows the deck board  to be manoeuvred out without dropping the rear seats.

That must be a change in design as the early one is a solid board - so it was a design error - that makes perfect sense now

I just put the rubber boot floor protector in mine. Works well. With the spare wheel, there isn't enough room to use it for storage so I never need to get below the floor.

The Cross raised floor isn't as practical as it first appears. It doesn't seem it is really intended to allow access when loaded with things on top as well. It just permits an area to put things without them getting squashed.

The folding deck board in the normal not X Yaris now comes as standard from the excel and up models.

Yeah, we got a deckboard in our Excel recently. The neat look is kind of nice but I'm not totally sold on the point of it otherwise, and whenever we need to pack a lot to go away, it'll be staying at home.

So no deck board up to 2024, I will have to see if there is a change in part numbers

My boot now looks empty.  You can lift the front of the deck board. But I find it quite fiddly as it won’t stay up when you let go so you have to do what you need to one handed, unless you completely remove it.
