Is it possible to have parking sensors fitted to a 2015 aygo if so does anyone know if it’s very expensive.?

I also find the reverse Camera not very helpful as it has no guide lines and you have no idea how far away you are from an object which is why I’d prefer parking sensors.

Yes, parking sensors can be fitted to any car. Your local tow bar installer may do it for you or even Halfords.

The camera should have guide lines but as with others here mine are not in alignment. If I reverse using the guidelines the car is parked at an angle. It is going in for a service in a couple of weeks and I will ask for the camera to be adjusted. I anticipate some resistance to do it.

Guide lines weren't originally on early 2and generation Aygos, but were fitted from around 2016 - our 2016 model has them.

I still prefer the old-school approach of simply open the door and use the MK1 eyeball to check your alignment with a parking space, rather than rely on those camera tramlines. I think it depends on if you started out with access to these systems as a new driver or not - we get used to working with what we have in the early years.

tbh I don't really use the guidelines, they don't match up with most parking spaces. I rely on the mirrors (blindspot additions are especially useful) and I use the camera as a back up to check nothing is behind me as well as the rearview obviously.

I have fitted rear parking sensors to about half a dozen MkII Aygo/C1/108.  I use CISBO four-sensor kits which require a 21mm hole in the bumper with a 25mm overall dia. The kit costs around £20 and they work well and seem reliable. I've fitted over 30 of these kits to various different cars over the past 4-5 years. The kit costs around £20 and they work well and seem reliable.  They come in about 32 colours but my preference is to buy the nearest base colour and the spray with the exact colour for a perfect match.

A 'mini' sized sensor is available (16 or 18mm IIRC) - but I found those far less reliable.

Tap into the reverse light feed at the the N/S rear light and feed wires though the grommet at lower N/S of rear panel. I prefer to solder to the wire rather than use a Scotchlok.  Bumper doesn't need to come off. Takes me about 30-40 mins not including spraying the sensors beforehand. Stick the controller/buzzer behind the rear trim panel - its loud, so may need a bit of tape over it to quieten it. The sensors are on a short tail with connector so if a sensor fails or gets damaged just pry it out and replace without needing to pull everything apart.

Can be DIY easily.

Buy a Parking sensor kit on Amazon between 15 to 20 pounds.  The kit comes with drill bits.  Make 4 holes on the bumper.  Fit the sensors onto the bumper.  Feed the sensor cables through the rubber grommet into the boot.  Attach it to the unit.

The most difficult part is feeding power to the unit.  To which you'll need to tap the red cable to the reverse light (check the cables going towards the rear left lights).   The black wire goes to body ground.

Job like this takes me roughly 2 hours.  (I'm a perfectionist with most of the time on measuring out the drill hole positions).

If you take it to a garage, 1.5 - 2 hours labour plus VAT... £100 to £160?

I charge £30 because I don't work on cars for living.  It is more like a hobby type of thing.

If your Aygo has a tow bar fitted a little electrical extra work may be needed. Not always though.

Aygos can't tow, so there won't be one fitted.

Aren't they allowed to carry bikes? That's all I use my tow bar for.

From the Toyota side, the Manual says no towing:

The weight capacity sticker (at the side of the driver's door) also indicates it has no towing capacity:

The first 1240Kg is Gross vehicle weight, the maximum weight of the vehicle including occupant, fuel and payload.

The second 1240Kg is Gross Train weight, the combined maximum allowable mass of the vehicle AND trailer.

The manufacturer's recommended maximum towing capacity is number 2 minus number 1, which is zero.

So you'll never get a tow hook for Aygo from Toyota.  Aftermarket, maybe but definitely not recommended.  In fact, it may raise the question of legality.

On a reverse tangent, I saw one being towed by a campervan on the way home - Those things always confuse me, as from a distance it just looks like incredibly aggressive tailgating/hypermiling, then you get close and you see it's just on a 2ft towbar attached to the steering rack

It's quite nifty how they tie in the brake lights and indicators into the car's ones, so you don't need a tow-board draped on the back of it!
