OK and thanks for the research. I'm going to have to check mine because when I checked last night I'm sure it had been several hours but I can't be sure.

You're right, they're off.

So the Battery must be screwed then.

For any of you testing the health of a 12V car Battery with a voltmeter, remember to ensure your car has been switched off for few hours and then measure the 'resting voltage' across the Battery terminals. It should read at least 12.6 volts, if it is less than this the Battery is either in a bad state of charge or just broken. My original VARTA battery on my 5-month old Corolla TS was reading at best 12.2v and worst 11.7v. I had so many problems with central locking and tailgate opening and closing as a result that my supplying dealer has eventually and very reluctantly replaced the battery under warranty. No problems whatsoever since. Interesting to note that the new battery fitted was a Toyota branded battery and one of a higher capacity *52Ah as opposed to 45Ah of the original). The 'resting voltage of the new battery is now always above 13 volts. A resting voltage that is consistent with that measured on other cars in the family. Clearly in my case the battery was faulty and not even holding a charge for 24-hours. I do feel however that the 45Ah capacity battery fitted as standard from new though is clearly inadequate and needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency if Toyota is to retain it excellent reputation for reliability. And as for why my supplying dealer required so much pressure before they would replace my faulty battery on a near new car is mind boggling. A car manufacturers reputation is the combination of product quality and the quality of the dealership networks customer service.

Quick update.

I've booked it into my Toyota dealership to look at. As advised by others somewhere in this forum, they need it for two days. I discussed the prospect of a diagnostic fee (thanks again for somebody on this forum for the heads up) and he agreed it would be waived in the event of them not finding a problem. I made a bit of a fuss (respectfully) that after a run on Thursday the Battery was at 7.8 volts on Sunday so somethings wrong with the car if its not the Battery. I explained that the car let me down and I missed an appointment which isn't what I bought a Toyota for! He took notes. Think I'll buy one of those portable Battery packs!

I forgot to say, bumped into the sales guy that sold me the car and he asked why I was in. He admitted its a problem, just happens completely out of the blue he said and often they can't find a fault and the Battery tests ok!

Quick update.

Pretty much as expected the 12v Battery tested fine but they reckon it needed a full charge so the car stayed in overnight. No explanation as to why the Battery went flat. Not 100% happy but what can you do. Anyway I've got a portable jump starter now purely as a rescue device. I'll just have to see if it happens again!

All this flat Battery talk nearly put me off getting the car tbh

Im glad I have though, as I love it

But I too have just bought a gooloo jump starter for emergencies

Going to do the ready mode when parked etc and all the useful tips I’ve acquired from the various Battery posts

Next thing I am going to buy is a CTEK charger and leave the ringed cable add on attached to the Battery so I can easily just trickle charge every now and again

Oh… then source a space saver

Expensive this hybrid ownership 😅

p.s. be thankful that you don't have the hatch - the spare kit for that is much, much more ...
