Hello, not too long ago my late grandfather gave me as a gift his Toyota Corolla, which has two remote control keys with no Battery. Recently, I bought a brand new Battery (Duracell 2016 so I suppose the Battery itself can not be the problem) and put it in one of the keys. However, the red light which appears when clicking the lock or unlock button does not show, it happens the same with the other key. I have tried to program it and the car enters program mode but yet again the remote control of the key does not seem to work. Therefore, I am unsure what happens with both keys, I can only think that the electronic circuit might be broken or corrupted, but this being the case for both keys is a bit weird. The car itself as well as the keys were in perfect condition when they were given to me (as well as now :P) so I really don't know what happens. Anyone knows what is the problem? Any help is very much appreciated!

Looking on the Web, some 2003/2008 remotes use a CR2032 Battery as well as some with CR2016 type.

If you take out the Battery, the circuit board may say what type it should be. Perhaps check on YouTube for a video showing a Battery change for your exact remote.

For info, a 2032 battery is twice as thick as a 2016 battery (3.2mm rather than 1.6mm).

If you have used the wrong type, it may not be making contact if it is too thin. Both battery types are 3v.
