Booked the 2021 R4P for last service and MOT before I hand it back in just over 2 weeks for a replacement 2024 GRS R4P. A little naughty by the company car folks as delivery was scheduled for now. Shannigans aside, I got a note on the online check in to say the tyre inflation kit expired early 2022 and there's a free of charge replacement. That news was probably useful in 2022!

Anyone have similar experiences?

What is expiring in the kit? The aerosol gunk can?

Yes, just the can of gunk ...

"They" say that it should have a shelf life of 4-8 years so a 2021 car really shouldn't have been supplied with something with only a 1 year shelf life - which may explain why they are happy to replace FoC.

These kits a junk anyway.
Better buy yourselves a spare tyre , these small ones or smallest real wheel with tyre size to match the size of your ones. Or perhaps a air compressor and puncture repair strips. These work great. 👌

I've had 2 services by the Toyota main dealer & each one they have noted the expiry date of the tyre inflation kit on the check sheet.

I'd love to know how they managed it both times as the tyre inflation kit is at home gathering dust in my garage 🤔

Yeh I got a repair kit and watched the YouTube videos on how to use it. Still carry the gunk stuff.

However, 90% of the time I'll just call the company car folks who send out the AA.

That is bizarre. So clearly they were using towards end of life stock!

That sort of thing always concerns me, like what other checks are they skipping/just making up?? :g:

when i had the Corolla TS it came with the compressor, and the can of gunk and no spare.   I bought the spare wheel kit, but also had a second compressor, mushroom plug kit, rubber screw kit, and wrench with longer handle.

my  new rav4 came with a spare wheel as standard, but i still keep  compressor, mushroom plug kit, rubber screw kit, and wrench with longer handle in the boot just in case, as I often drive to the west coast where the nearest tyre repair shop could be a 1hr drive away.

one thing i need to add is some sort of Battery boost / charge,  can anyone recommend one for the Rav4?

Current shelf life of the Toyota tyre sealant currently seems to be 6 years from production date -

https://toyotadirectparts.co.uk/parts/toyota-universal-accessories/toyota-tyre-sealant-and-compressor-kit-universal/#:~:text=Genuine Toyota Part.,Sealant production date %2B 6 years.

Has improved over the years, as tyre sealant expiry for the IQ was 3 years .....

I have the NoCo boost. GB20 is perfectly capable for any hybrid including RAV4 HEV or PHEV but if you have a diesel car in the family/neighbours you may want to help out at some time, maybe worth going up to the GB40.

MOCO or NOCO or something. Got one in the glove box. Easy access if everything is not working with a flat 12V. Charge lasts ages. Can't recall the model but I think I might have got one recommended by @ernieb. Used it through a period of perhaps 6 or 7 weeks with the 12V constantly going flat. Dealer had bodged a software update since it started happening immediately after it was in there. Then immediately fixed by the proper update. Never a problem since and I've left the car for nearly 4 weeks. Started first time.
