Hi I have a 2016 Aygo bought 4 months ago from a dealership and has 15,000 miles on it with a 12 month warranty. The key will not go in at all. I brought it back to the dealer who told us we need a new part (barrel) but is not covered under warranty by Toyota. We are absolutely shocked at this. Can anyone help please.

Do you have a 2nd key with the car? Does that work in the barrel?

The Toyota warranty is not really the issue here. You may have a claim against the selling dealer under the 2015 Consumer Rights Act (CRA) within six months after purchase. You need to talk to the dealer, forget Toyota Warranty.

Speaking as a dealer I would replace a barrel FOC if I thought it had just gone faulty and not been damaged (i.e. had a screwdriver or wrong key shoved into it). If the dealer won't play ball tell them you'll get it repaired and then put in a Small Claims Court action against them.

We have changed quite a few VW-group barrels over the years, but never an Aygo one as far as I remember...
