You should have got a hard copy of the abridged version. The full 650 page version is downloadable😂

You can also order a hard copy of the full - it's probably something like £40 these days!

Nice car, you might want the global windows open/closed with key press activated if they haven't done it. That's a trip back to the dealer or a third party paid app.

Do you have any trouble with hand/finger marks showing on the paint?

Wonder if it’s just my car or this colour in general?

Don’t really want to wear velvet gloves, and carry a pack of nitrile gloves around to offer to passengers 😅

Yes, I've noticed finger marks on the paintwork on a few occasions during the 7 months I've owned the car - particularly evident when the sun shines on it. It's possible that this particular colour, with its pearlescent finish, might show up finger/palm contact more than some other colours. Not a problem though, as a quick squirt of Meguiars Ultimate Quik Detailer (other spray detailers are available but this one is my favourite) and a light rub with a clean microfibre cloth do the trick of getting rid of the marks. My wife and daughter are the culprits - neither of them take any care when opening and closing doors or the boot. I've learned to live with it!

Thought it might be this colour, although finger marks also show on the black trim bits

Like you say, a detailing spray and cloth fixes it in no time

Just on page 439 of the online manual at the minute, 225 to go

Oh, then there is the multimedia manual to read after 😄

I bet it's "darling/dad it's just a car, it will get dirty anyway.....why are you fussing about it?" 🙂 😭

That's exactly their attitude 😄 My wife likes the car but couldn't give a fig about its cosmetic appearance and wonders why I bother to wash it twice a month. I cringe every time she closes the door with approximately twice the force required for this action. When closing the tailgate she never uses the recessed handles on the lower inner side. Always pulls it down from the outside with fingers all over the paintwork.

Every Toyota hybrid post 2019 is a plug in hybrid. 👌

Well I can tell you that is a load of nonsense. To be a plug in hybrid you need a socket where you plug in and charge the traction Battery, Toyota "self charging" hybrids don't have one.

And before anyone tells me I don't know what I am talking about we have the 24 Yaris (self charging - no socket) and a 20 Skoda Superb which is a plug in and has a socket.

Arrrrgh,tailgates and careless people.😡

A very careless pal from a few years back, the one who refused to have Aircon on when sweltering heat and humidity,as he was convinced it would give him legionares disease.

On my old lexus he dragged the boot shut using the "is 200" Badge and ripped it off.

This same chimp..err I mean highly intelligent gentleman, pulled the tailgate shut on my honda CRV using the number plate light cover, and somehow pulled the bulb mountings loose, never did get them to go back properly.

In both cases there was a obvious and conveniently placed handle.

Luckily, he must now be eligible for a bus pass.

Hi Paul. The Superb was my dream car, after a taxi ride in Belfast: the rear was like riding in a limousine. Unfortunately it was too big to fit in the garage. However our last car was an Octavia PHEV which gave us numerous problems, mainly software, which Skoda never resolved, so after 2 1/2 years and a fourth occasion when the car would not start, we got rid and bought our present Corolla. It's a revelation - on a journey we get over 60 mpg. Our Skoda charged from a 13 amp socket (the onboard charger only drew 10 amps) and the 400v 13kWh Battery gave us about 25 miles range, depending on the outside temperature. Octopus off-peak electricity charged the Battery for about £1. This suited our 50/50 split between e-power only and hybrid so I never needed to use a public charger. When the car ran on petrol only, the mpg was around 50. Petrol costs for the PHEV were 8.4p/mile and the Corolla is currently 13p/mile. I would now always have a self charging hybrid as the PHEVs on offer are too 'lumpy' and have a high boot lip, which would make access for our greyhound difficult. If the Corolla was ever offered as a PHEV I'd buy one in an instant! How reliable has your Superb been?

Cut from the same cloth? Or from the same neck of the wood? Which is which? 🤪 Mcds pal by any chance??

Ack I'm the opposite, CBA to clean the car as I spend ages doing it then it looks just as bad in a week! (Mostly thanks to London Busses - It really galls me that everyone's effectively banned from using diesel except them - It's funny how the busses and tube are now the biggest source of potentially carcinogenic particulates in London but it's everyone else - Private cars, taxies, trucks etc. - that get hammered for it! :g: ).

My other reason is I'm hoping that if the car is filthy it's less attractive as a vandalism/theft target! :fear:

(It's so dirty nobody wants to touch it, which is exactly the desired outcome  )

May I recommend the new Prius PHEV then? It's faster and sleeker than the Corolla and is only available as a PHEV in the UK currently. :naughty:

I think you missed Tony's joke there. He was suggesting that they're 'plug in hybrids' if you need to put the 12v Battery on charge! 😊

The dead-tree manuals are (Or were) surprisingly cheap from the dealer; I was trying to find one for my Mk2 on eBay, and paid something like £25 which I thought was about right, only to find out a year later I could have bought it from the dealer for something like £15!

Personally though, I just keep the PDF on my ereader - It's much easier to search!!

Nah , I have been eligible for a bus pass for 10 years, doesn't mean I'll have one though,it would be useless to me,as I can't walk as far as the bus stop,

But I see the thinking, I will be 70 this year if I can make another month or two, was eligible for a bus pass at 60, but not that keen on being hurtled from one end of a bus to the other while the driver brakes and accelerates before I could get sat down.

Not sure about the being cut from the same cloth,or same neck of the the wood.

Oh it's great, a few routes here are like being on a rollercoaster! Esp. when they hit the speedbumps, potholes, subsidence, traffic calming chicanes etc.  - A lot cheaper than Alton Towers!

And I'm sure they've been employing former BTCC, WRC and F1 drivers on their single-decker and hopper bus routes!

That line from the song is surprisingly accurate, "The People on the Bus go Up and Down, Up and Down, Up and Down"

Whilst on that very topic I’m thinking of getting this charger (see pics)

Am I right in thinking I could leave the comfort clamps permanently attached to the little Battery in the boot, and just charge it up (say once a month?)

If that’s the case, when I disconnect the Battery terminals to fit them, would the car know or would it not be any wiser because it is switched off?

I don’t want to disrupt anything that might be happening in the background (if you get what I mean)

Car electrics are not my forte as you can probably tell 😅

Yes that's what I did. From memory I didn't actually have to disconnect the Battery to fit the connections, just indid the nuts and slipped the ring terminals over the bolts. Disconnecting the Battery won't harm anything in any case. I put my Battery on charge perhaps once every three or four months, but to be honest I'm not sure it even needs it, it's just a precaution as I only cover about 3000 miles per year and the car can sometimes go nearly a week without being used.
