There is a big jump start point in the fusebox under the bonnet. Lift the fuse cover and you'll see a big red plastic cover over the blade for this purpose. Clip positive there and negative to any earth/unpainted bolt. You can open the car with the physical key. This is all described in the handbook.

A tip… my booster leads are too chunky to clip to the fuse box post. The clip could be held against the post ok when someone else presses start, but it needs to hold itself on if there’s only one of you, so I just  bolted a small L-bracket to the post, and the booster lead clips to that fine.  I did I this after reading about the Battery issues, but have t had any problems myself - e.g. even after 4 weeks non use.

Yes that's what I did. From memory I didn't actually have to disconnect the battery to fit the connections, just indid the nuts the and slipped the ring terminals over the bolts. Disconnecting the battery won't harm anything in any case. I put my battery on charge perhaps once every three or four months, but to be honest I'm not sure it even needs it, it's just a precaution as I only cover about 3000 miles per year and the car can sometimes go nearly a week without being used.

That’s excellent, thank you

I’ll have to look if I can get the loops over without disconnecting then…

was thinking I wouldn’t be able to as they are closed.

I have used u shaped Battery connectors in the past without having to disconnect as they just sit around the bolt, but will have a look

Thank you for the reply
