USB not working after installing new triple headunit

Hey guys!

hope you all enjoying your toyotas

I have an Aygo 2021, I recently swapped my basic radio/bluetooth head unit with a triple button carplay one (model: 86140-YV010)

however, after installation, usb port stopped working, as in dead, no charging or indication of connection at all!!

I read thru some of the posts here that it might require a firmware update, but due to usb currently not working, i don’t think I am able to do that!

Please anyone with similar issue can advise on how to fix this?

thank you

did the car previously have the x-nav (sd card in the glove box) - if so you need to unplug the usb port from the splitter (B) and plug it into the TriplePlay behind the radio

Thanks @flash22 for your reply

it didn’t have an x-nav, and I checked when installing the new unit for the splitter and there was non, it was just one cable (usb) so plugged in directly

You may have picked up a bad unit, lots come on to the market what have been swapped out as they have a fault its happened many times, usually it's the 5v supply that dies as its capped at 500ma a modern phone requires a fair bit more

updates are not a silver bullet fix, plus you need a working USB port to install it 🙃

It makes sense, do you think there’s a chance the 5v supply can be fixed?
if not, I’ll just take the L and use it as bluetooth connection.

once again, I appreciate your help @flash22 🙏

it should be repairable, I made a test lead to spit the power and data (2 males and 1 female) 1 male for data only and the other male for power from another source

Thanks again @flash22 just wanted to ask for your opinion on this one.

I found this 8pin adapter (8pin to 2 usb female) online, do you think this would work if installed on the head unit, please?

There is only 1 USB port on the back of a triple-play

the test lead I made were 2 Male to female USB A leads, one cut in half and spliced into another, i can knock up a diagram if you like
