What's changed on the latest Yaris cross over say the 21 plate cross?, anything significant, anything worse etc?, I heard the added more sound deadening but not sure what they have done.

There's a big old thread on the "MY24" Yaris Cross here:

I read a lot of the new features apply to the 130hp version, certainly the one I drove (GR) seemed so much more composed and relaxed than the previous 115hp (design).

Wireless charging and believe it or not, they have put a overhead light in the headliner above the rear passengers, a different styled infotainment system😀👍

Apart from the increase to 130bhp and the above points and a few insignificant cosemetic changes, there's really not that much difference between the MK1 and MK2 (in my opinion 😀

The thicker glass, the extra sound proofing, the engine damper, smoother , nippier, quieter, more frugal...otherwise the same !

It's not a MK2 - it's just a mid life update.

I liked Matt's explanation why Heinz are changing over to selling baked beans in plastic pots 😀

You beat me to it Ralph, watched this yesterday, but I didn’t see the point of the 5 bad things as he covered these when he tested it a couple of years ago..

I gave up watching lots of these types of people review cars as more often then not I don't think they have read the manual to see how the car actually work. They then complain how something does not work or how something works strange when its working exactly as designed.

I do feel like there is a trend of anti toyota hybrid sentiment and willful ignorance with a lot of automotive reviewers; The amount of them that still reference a non-existent belt and cones CVT system in Toyota hybrids is frankly astounding. The fact that they still haven't figured it out in over 20 years doesn't inspire confidence in the accuracy of their reviews.

And silly complaints like the "CVT" is bad because the engine's noisy under hard-acceleration... what, like *every other car ever*??... or that they're slow and uninspiring?

Maybe the original Prius Mk2 was a bit, but the current models are definitely not! :naughty: :whistling1:

I remember matt Watson reviewing the ford puma and saying you couldn’t turn off lane assist, it was on the end of the wiper stalk,

Or the original ‘21 Yaris Design review that said it had auto braking reverse sensors that were only on Excel spec.

Not a big fan of him or his channel tbh... . All they seem to do is drag races which, for me, are the dullest, least skillfull, least imaginative and least interesting forms of 'testing'.

I want to see more handling comparisons; It's all well and good going fast in a straight line on a glassy smooth track but how about while cornering and braking on an uneven poorly maintained road?

I have a preference for lightweight agile cars that also have good power-to-weight ratios and high lateral grip levels - Drag races tell me nothing about those things.

To be fair this is a common theme with the automotive press - It's why the GR Yaris passed under the radar of a lot of mainstream reviewers initially, until normal car enthusiasts started making so much noise about it and they begrudgingly had to say nice things about it.

One of the biggest things I like about the GR4 is it's a car for serious driving enthusiasts, not for posing, yet so many reviews just complain about the looks while ignoring the incredible engineering and balance of it. I remember one reviewer was complaining it was no fun because it had too much grip, like that's a bad thing (And yet he'd previously complained that the GT86 didn't have enough grip!). Plus he couldn't figure out how to turn off the TC and ESC properly

It's one reason I tend to watch independent youtubers more as they will usually take the car being reviewed on a hoon down the kinds of awful bumpy pothole-ridden twisty roads I like to drive on :naughty: :whistling1: which is far more informative than yet another boring drag race.
