This could be a really dumb question but as they say - only simple when you know the answer......

Is there an amp in a UK MkII 2? I know there is on the imports with the upgraded system but is there anything I need to know about my UK car BEFORE I start ripping things out?

Each sub has an amp .. and the "premium" (don't make me laugh) has another ..

The sub ones are on the firewall in the corners .. the Premium amp is up near the passenger seat belt ..

Bin the lot and use your own wiring ..

It's all hiden inside the n/s pastic panel where your seatbelt is..

Thanks guys - will dump the lot I think ;) , now for another one..... can anyone recommend an amp that will do the job but that has an optical input? Oh and wont cost me a fortune!!

With an MR2 you need GOOD quality .. in a normal car you can get away with a lot as you have large cabin space .. in the MR2 you can hear a low quality amp.

So in a small cockpit you need hight quality and not so much raw power ..

I went JL Audio on the Subs and amps ..

I dunno what sub I have.. it's a 10" one I got from Rico. Sounds nice. I also have a Pheonix Power Gold Amp ( I think ) running it.

Need to get some better Speakers tho.. then another amp for those. Stock Speakers can't take the strain very well.
