Yaris Cross Delivered today + Mods

Recommended Posts

Picked up from Steven Eagell today at 12pm.  Got home and added the first of a series of mods which I will add to this post as they are done.  It's raining, so interior mods done

Armrest

The standard armrest / centre console is too low and the majority of after market pads are far too wide.  This one however fits perfectly and allows the arm to be lifted and access to the internal tray without catching.

Aliexpress £7

Door Switches

The illuminated ones from my old Yaris were transferred across and fit perfectly

IMG_2017.thumb.jpeg.e9e6651f44cd4fa061f39da3fe9e5c7c.jpeg

Aliexpress about £40

Auto Door Lock on "D" and open on "P"

This plugs in the OBD slot and has some options (lock at 15kph or on "D" / hazards when reversing etc)

IMG_2018.thumb.jpeg.8f7e0c380f0961e9cd861c6b9361d5d7.jpeg

Aliexpress £22

More to follow

Hydraulic Bonnet supports

Wind Jammers for all windows

Modified rear lights / DRL at rear / extra brake lights

.... and who knows what else!

Paint

An appointment to get Gen 3 Evolution Liquid Glass Ceramic paint protection

Unexpected bonus

Driver and front passenger door handles / bowls illuminated

Great news on picking up the new car.

Those internal door switches look like useful, I'll keep an eye on this 👍

Is this due to mistrust of the MyToyota app ?

No, but I use Find My on the iPhone for both of my MX5's and my partners handbag (don't ask) as well as credit card sized ones on the luggage when we travel - all in one place.

You do realise that any iPhone carrying “thieves” will get a notification about the air tag.  This is deliberate by Apple so that tags cannot be used for ‘stalking ’ purposes.

Replaced the very dim white footwell lights with blue ones

Not for between 24 and 48 hours and you might find that my airtags no longer beep . . . . 😁

You should put 2 air tags in, and make one of them easy to find.  That should fool em 🤣

I'd be interested in the long term reliability of those switches. I've never had a switch or button fail in a Toyota despite a lot of use, whereas my Fiesta and my dad's old Granada were a different story...

They were in my Yaris for 8 months and never faulted, if they fail then the originals can be put back in within all four doors in less than 10 minutes (7 minutes for the drivers door . . . 🤣

Do the illuminated colour of door controls match the rest of the car or are they a different colour ?

The description states blue and I confirmed with the seller that they currently only supply in blue, but how blue are they ?

Light blue, unobtrusive. You can also buy the switches with white lights but they seem to be double the price.

Today's addition are front and rear HEKO wind jammers.

20 minutes to fit as the instructions as to where to put clips were not entirely clear and needed a screwdriver to push fully home as the windows triggered anti-pinch on 2 of them.

eBay

They look smarter than the toyota ones and stick out less.

I had Climair on the Yaris and they stuck out more. Happy with these, and easier to install.

The wind deflectors look nice and unobtrusive. Did you do an A/B with and without it or is it just based on previous experience on you other cars?

For my Yaris Cross with 18" wheels, I bought these from eBay for an outlay of £130. Car has pano roof, so no spare included.

17" space saver, jack and extending wheel wrench and the bolt to secure in the boot.

Visual deterrent - Amazon - prices range from £15 to £30 for the same product so worth scrolling down the listings.

May not stop a determined thief, but may cause a pause in the decision making as to "take or not take"
