Hi

Collecting my car today, and it doesn’t have a spare.

I am trading my old car (Dacia Duster) in that had a full size steel spare

The dealership is letting me take it out, as I believe it will fit my Corolla

It has the same bolts/lug patterns (5x114.3) and as far as I can see the only difference is the centre bore

Toyota is 60.1 and Dacia is 66.1

I can alter this with an aluminium spigot ring. Whilst I know it’s not ideal to run wheels with spigot rings, as a temporary measure I’m sure it would be ok until I get the puncture repaired.

According to Will it fit, the new set up would be as in the pictures, which I think would be ok?

Could anyone confirm?

Would hopefully save me some money on a spare anyway

Why risk it? Probably safety, insurance and other potential issues.

Not a good idea. Just use Toyota wheels 👍

Shame… It’s brand new, never been on the car

I might just sell it and put money towards a Toyota one then 🤔

At the dealers now, sat in the collection area

Seen it outside all clean and polished ready.

The guy that will be doing the handover will probably be sick of me after I’ve asked all my questions 😄

Don't worry, it'll already balanced by my handover, where all I got were the keys!

Had a similar experience at this same dealership with an Aygo I bought

Put a complaint in, and got invited back in by the dealership owners daughter, for them to make amends.

Embarassingly they made the salesman apologise to me (which I didn’t want but they insisted) and I got full red carpet treatment, champagne, loads of gifts and flowers for the missus etc

Thats the only reason I came back to this dealership (as it’s not my nearest)

I made it known on this transaction about the past handover, and thankfully this time they really made it an enjoyable experience (as it should be!)

Wow good result! It sucks you had to kick up a fuss but at least it got good results!

That is a result indeed! Good to hear that the next handover was a much better experience.

Although, I agree with you. That's a bit uncomfortable. I'd rather have an apology from the owner than their staff.

Same here, but she insisted that he “wanted” to apologise…

I bet in his mind he was thinking “you absolute xxxxxxx!”

Anyway, apparently the guy has moved dealerships now, so didn’t see him this time

Never wanted to get him in trouble, but just felt aggrieved that the handover was so poor on that occasion

bought corolla design in 2020 between lockdowns, understood why but never even got the traditional hand shake.

Tend to agree.  Not just the PCD /stud count & centre bore to consider, but also the seating of the wheel bolts - some bolts do seat in different ways.  I had this with a classic car that had alloys on it - & so had to carry wheel bolts for the spare steel wheel.

If you are spending all this money on your new car, then why not buy either a space saver kit with jack etc or a Toyota 15" steel wheel?

Get yourself a puncture repair kit too like this, it's very good, may need to buy the 3.5mm black strings separately as those brown ones have been reported so not good (leaking air by some ppl).

It has saved me time and money on numerous nail/screw punctures. A few months ago on holiday in Cornwall, next morning found a screw puncture at holiday home on a farm. Fixed it and continued with holiday no fuss.
