Hi folks,

I am looking to buy a 2024 Yaris Cross and I need your opinion on the 114bhp vs 130bhp models. Is anyone in here that drove both options for more than the 20 minutes test drive and got a better idea if the 130bhp is worth the 2-3000 price difference?

Thank you

I think @Bob66 has the experience of owning both.

Not tried them personally, but from others experiences, I'd say if you live in a hilly place or do lots of high speed motorway travel, the extra grunt of the 130 will be real nice and the more powerful electric motor will allow more electrical use at motorway speeds, improving mpg, but if it's going to be mostly town driving then it won't really get to "strut its stuff" so to speak so would be less worth it.

Depending on what trim level you are after. In uk for example the 130 is only available in gr sport and premier for now. I am sure that there will not be so much of a difference if you drive within the limits and relaxed style.
If you want extra bhp then it’s worth any price on top. 👌

I am from Cyprus, in here you can get the 130bhp on the trims Elegance, GR Sport and Premier(see below link)

From what I can see, both engines are not available on the same trim so like the UK, engine to engine comparison is not straightforward.

We paid extra for GR Sport for the 130ps as we tow a trailer tent. It was more money before options, and we also lost the heated steering wheel and electric tailgate over the Excel once we added the advanced safety pack.

Horses for courses.

If I decide to go for the 130bhp trim, I will most probably go for the GR Sport as well.

In here we can't choose colors or materials of the interiors, and the cheapest trim either the 130bhp, Elegance, comes with a two color dashboard and fabrics: dark gray & brown, and my best half already told me that she will not want to even look at it. So the GR Sport it is 😀

There's not a huge difference...but in my humble opinion...worth the extra money.   It's nippier , seems more responsive , stays in EV mode longer... so a tad more frugal on petrol. I'm pleased that I went for the 130 engine setup, but the 115 is also a great unit,    I would have been content with either. It all comes down to how much money you want to spend...Carwow is fantastic bargaining chip...so you might be able to get the upgraded 130 unit , with a canny discount.

Agreed

I’ve had both but in the standard Yaris not the cross the 130 differs in torque more than hp it’s better accelerating up hills, and at motorway speeds pulling better from 50mph.

Price difference is ~ 1750 on carwow (excel to premier). The premier has a few more goodies like head up display, JBL Speakers + others. They have reduced the price difference from what I could remember, it was about 2.5k previously.

I live in Cyprus, small island with only one Toyota dealer, so the dealer competition card doesn't work that good in my case.

do you have a honda dealer as you could try the I am looking at the Jazz (thats what its called in the UK) as that seems to be the direct competitor or the one Toyota dealers seem to be the most scared of from what I found when trying to get a good deal and see what discount they will give then.
