Guess What Happens When......

.....you press the Park button at 30mph?

Well I did the other night. Fumbling for the kph/mph button in the dark to dim the display and hit P.

Car beeped and went in to Neutral so I just flicked it back to Drive.

Always wondered what would happen but never dared try it.

It would be nice if the kph/mph and Odometer buttons were illuminated then you could find them in the dark maybe.

Often wondered why the display dimmer button is marked mph/kph ?

Is is possible maybe to switch between mph and kph on the display ?

Thinking more about this. What if you take your UK Prius over to the continent ?

There is no kmh display as on a conventional dial speedo - so how do you know if your within the speed limit - unless you have a mph / kmh conversion chart in front of you!

Is there some undocumented way of changing the display to kmh ?

There had to be a way....press the km/h MPH button and hold it down till it changes. Just tried it and it works.

Also, have you ever noticed the speedo works when reversing? It does.

Nah, live in a cul de sac and reversed down the drive. Mirrors are wonderful things.

Tomorrow I might dare look at the speedo whilst going forward!!!! :bye:

Why would you want to change it to KM's ??

Does the prius go as fast in reverse is it does forward? like the old DAF cars?

my speedo is km's only (onconverted import) and I have no trouble with it (so far

see ye tomorrow

Braindead,

I accidently hit the P button today!. I did it when only doing 2 to 3 mph as I was slowly easing away from a petrol forecourt. The effect was dramatic, min didn't go into neutral but stopped dead in it's tracks and rocked back and forth on the transaxle a couple of times! Of course it would be disastrous at speed hence the neutral in your case. So now we know.
