I removed the plastic cover from the instrument cluster to clean it and accidentally touched the temperature gauge. I repositioned the red pointer to its original location when the car is cold, but now it’s not functioning correctly.

When I start the car, the pointer moves backwards. As the car warms up, the pointer moves to the position it should be in when the car starts, but not to the proper warm location.

Once the car warms up, I’ve tried manually moving the pointer to the middle, but it moves backwards again when the car cools down and I restart it. I’ve also tried moving it higher with the same result.

I’m unsure how to fix this issue. Do I need to buy a new instrument cluster, or is it possible to replace just the temperature gauge without having to reprogram the entire panel?
