Buying a used car from a seaside area

Would people be concerned with cars being driven in seaside areas? Do you check for number plate where it was used or registered before you buy?

Just wondering what others thoughts regarding to corrosion?

I know that at one time cars that were kept in seaside resorts were prone to corrosion due to the ozone levels in the atmosphere, plus any saltiness in windswept weather.

Don’t know how much this has changed with bodywork now being galvanised during production, although many of the underbody fittings - suspension, etc. - may possibly still be at risk.

Is it possible to trace previous location of where a car has been kept to that degree of accuracy.  I just know, from the first two letters of the number plate, that my car was first registered in the Birmingham area.  If a car has had more than one owner, would that not make the second location even more difficult to ascertain?

Once bought a 2 year old Yaris mk3 hybrid from a garage in Worcester, the engine bay area had salty residue, probably near or around a coastal area. Passed the next 5 MOT without any issue. Reg BT - Yorkshire.
