Dear members.

I collected a new yaris cross and after reaching home I realised it had 20miles on odometer previously.

Is this normal ?

It would depend a lot on the delivery process (I had 5 miles on mine).

I may have been driven from one dealer to another closer to you by a guy with trade plates?

No!

I collected from the dealer where they had it stock.

I had 3 miles on the clock when I collected mine.

Then I would say that 20 miles is unusual...

6 miles on mine.
On my way to collect the car i passed the saleswoman driving it in the opposite direction to put some petrol in it.

I once bought a new Fiesta when I collected that it had 80 miles on it and someone’s mobile phone paired to the bluetooth! Got a free service for that. And never bought another Ford.

Meh it may have been one of the random test cars that go on a little drive around the test track, loading and unloading, it may have gone to Burnaston, or the dealer may have an off-site yard for storage

because you picked it up at the dealer, it doesn't stop the car from being moved about

I'd say a higher mileage is more likely with an in-stock car.

Ordered from the factory will (usually) arrive at the dealer, get PDI'd (hopefully) and then handed over to the buyer.

Stock cars will arrive at the dealer and then probably be driven to their off-site storage (field) until bought, when it will be driven back for PDI etc.

When I ordered my car, I downloaded my T app on my phone and registered with the same email, the app showed what car you have ordered, colour etc. Later on as they started building your car they gave you a VIN number in the app and you can follow your car journey from factory to the UK. This VIN is the same VIN to my current car so it couldn't have been from stock car.
