Someone who has manage to change the AC pulley with the frontplate, not the magnet as this is function.

Have a lose frontplate in front of the pulley that make a metallic sound when the engine is idling at 800rpm.

Toyota Avensis Estate D4D T27, 2009 mod.

Is there that sound when A/C is on? If not, the rubber dampers are dead inside the pulley. That happened to me years ago...

If you are DIY- person please look at the following topic, there is my solution too (did not bypass A/C)

Even though I don´t have that car anymore, I know my fix is still ok (I asked the new owner).

The noise goes away when i turn on the AC. And i can turn the outer round plate (that one with a lot of holes in) 3-4 cm each way and then i hear this metallic sound. A local Toyota mecanic guy said to me that if you can turn this a litttle bit both ways it is something wrong with the pulley/outer magneto part(s).

Added pictures of the new unit.

The problem is clear, the cause is defective damper rubbers.

Solved. Thanx for help here.

I lock the AC shaft with a 7mm socket wrench, then i use a screwdriver and a hammer and manage to get loose the outer plate than the inner plate thats har "arms" who goes between all the rubber dampers.

Then, easily get off the main pulley after take off the locking disk. Then about 15 minutes to put the new one in place. With good help from you and my wife 👍
