Just bought a 2013 Yaris Trend as a second car. Really happy with it. Only issue: an occasional double beep for no apparent reason. Every 5 to 10 mins. Volume of beep seems related to audio volume. No warning lights, so i assume it's from the infotainment centre. Read the handbook but can't find anything. Phone is paired successfully. I am at a loss.

Any ideas?

Hi Simon,If you have your phone connected the occasional double beep could be related to bluetooth connection problems or notifications from your paired phone. Since the beep's volume is tied to the audio volume, its possible the infotainment system is involved. Does the car have a aftermarket device installed if so this could also cause this.😄

Thanks for the reply. No aftermarket device. I thought it could be a signal dropout warning of some sort. I need to take it out with my phone off.

Try this,

Disconnect your phone from bluetooth for a day and see if the audio does it again, it could also be the phone settings or disconnect sound

Also check if you put your backpack or something heavier on any of the seats (front and back) as that could trigger the seatbelt reminder, it happened to me twice once in the front and once in the back, I was very confused when driving what is happening. The only thing that should light up is the seat belt reminder and if it is sunny you will not be able to see it

My Lane Assist often beeped on my Mk4 Yaris either when it lost sight of the kerp or went over a junction with lots of white lines.

May be the speed camera alert on the satnav (if you have that). On ours that can still happen even if you aren't actually navigating.

I also have noticed this 2 loud sharp beeps at LOW speeds in town.  I thought I narrowed it down to going into EV mode and using the electric Battery...maybe I'm wrong !!

My car beeps so much I tend to ignore them, it’s the random braking whilst approaching parked cars that really annoys me 😡

Have you got PDA switched on in settings? You can turn it off or reduce sensitivity, this is what was causing mine to smoothly brake for parked cars ect. If it’s a sudden sharp braking then that’s emergency auto brake for something the car thinks it’s going to crash into, which is a different setting.

Sounds like speed camera warning to me.
