Hi all

My "02" Previa 2.4 petrol has been showing a weird problem occasionally. When we go to use the car the day after it's rained heavily the Battery has lost enough charge that it won't start the car. I can't find any leaks anywhere and nothings been left on. Has anyone had similar with there previa/estima ?

Thanks , Adam

Hi Adam,Your problem might be a parasitic draw caused by moisture affecting the electrical system, which can drain the Battery. Water could be getting into the fuse box,or other components, causing a temporary short. Faulty seals around the doors or windows, or windscreen might also be letting water in. After heavy rain I would check under the bonnet and inside the car for any signs of water or dampness, especially around the fuse box and wiring. Also, look at the seals if any are damaged or worn, you might need to replace or reseal them. You can get your Battery and alternator tested for free at some garages. If you're up for it, you can disconnect the negative Battery terminal and use a multimeter to check for current draw. Pull fuses one by one to see if a particular circuit is causing the drain. If you find moisture in the electrical components, dry them out and use dielectric grease to protect them from any future water exposure.👍
