i tried with the spare key, logged in as guest, then went to settings, and when i selected the profile, it forced me to login again with email and password.

will try sigining out and in again.

When was the car delivered and how many miles you driven so far?

i had guest mode today about 3 times,  using iphone, not connected via cable.  will try with cable connected and see if it happens then.

with the Corolla i used to get "profile could not be loaded" pop up message, which used to happen on long drives, and reappear every few minutues, with the Rav its just the guest mode

Any luck?

Excellent news. It worked for me as soon as I did it. No issues thereafter. Don't need to plug the phone in either. Or have MyT open. Pretty robust now.

It's getting silly now. Had to go through the process again for the 7th time. 3 times in the last 2 hours.

You're getting me worried.  Everything I don't like about our new car is to do with the digital safety  enhancements and the app. At my age having to do repeat operations involving usernames and passwords becomes a nightmare. I completed the IPSOS survey by post a week ago and placed great emphasis on the inability for husband and wife to have compatible registrations when getting into the car to drive it. Get back from a week away and an email arrives inviting us (my wife as registered keeper but me as the buyer etc) to complete the survey online. Doh! I won't. But if I get the problem you're having I'll be back at the dealer in a flash.

Yeh it's getting painful.

However, turns out there's a trick to sorting out the personal Profile loading issue. Found in a US video. It has worked for me as soon as I did it.

But, there is a general problem here. I can't recall what I went to the shop for never mind which email I used and the password!

not sure, assume so.  started the Rav yesterday and got guest mode.... then realised I left the phone in the house. left the car on and got the phone, but rather than click accept the terms, i held volume button down for 5 seconds which rebooted the multimedia system and phone was detected correctly.

So the phone of definitely our profile key via bluetooth (since it doesn't have to be plugged in by USB).

One thing though id that your phone can only be AA or regular bluetooth and not both. This is is different to the last system on my former PHEV. If phone not plugged in to USB so no AA, then it would default to regular bluetooth and it would still play my music and do calls.

Haven't solved this one yet.

My issue with my Gr Sport bought last week is that I cannot sync my phone contacts, keeps saying phone needs to allow it. Connected via USB lead and android auto they are there and work. My phone is Poco M4 Pro, cannot see the problem as yet.

Is it Android?

If so this is probably a permissions issue in android settings for the car multimedia connection, or... It's this...

What I have noticed but haven't investigated is that I could not set my phone up as both an Android Auto device AND a calls and audio device. It was one or the other. Since I make calls, answer texts, etc. through Android Auto I didn't really bother investigating.

This is different to how the previous infotainment system worked. If I didn't plug my phone into the USB I could still make calls, see texts, and listen to my music via bluetooth. Now that option is not possible unless I change over the profile settings to just use my phone for calls etc and NOT android auto.

You can see this by going to bluetooth settings and selecting settings for CAR_MULTIMEDIA. It will look like this...

bluetooth on?

Did you try the sign out to guest and back in again trick?

I wonder if this was triggered by leaving the phone in the house previously.

Why we can't assign the key fob as the profile association device i do not know. They can in the USA.

Further thought, do you have a good DCM connection? It's shown at the top of the Infotainment display.

I'm wondering if it fetches your profile from the Toyota cloud (or attains an authorisation from there) but if the connection is bad you won't get it. That would be an utterly stupid implementation but you never know as Toyota seems particularly clueless on the UI software front.

yeah bluetooth and wifi on,

at the time i just accepted the terms and clicked  continue, and then selected my profile when the screen loaded.

i noticed that the  drive on Sat is missing from hybrid coaching on the app on phone, it did not upload, but ones later that day did.

yeah normally have a good number of bars showing on the top right of screen.  the guest mode screen appeared very quickly after pressing power button.   the drives from today are already showing in the app on phone. it must have logged the drive that is missing from Saturday against guest mode.

Hopefully we'll get an OTA update. Fix these bugs.

So, embarked earlier on a long trip to the Lakes. 5 minutes in and got the profile could not be loaded pop up error. It was loaded and it was working seconds earlier. Couldn't get rid of the pop up unless I typed in my email and password for my T account. Needless to say I had to pull over to do that. Still didn't work. Rebooted the screen. Rebooted phone. Car off and on again. Eventually it cleared.

I've concluded that this is crappy software from Toyota. They need to fix it or I'm going to get hacked off.

I want to buy Toyota, but still deciding on what year and model.

Can you tell me please, so in the UK, profile can be only loaded by having phone with me? No profile detection by the key fob? I drive very often without a phone, if that means I will have to drive in "guest mode", then this is unacceptable.

If you're not driving with a phone as your profile tag device then you'll default to guest mode.

That shouldn't be much of an issue as you can still drive the car, use all the inbuilt navigation etc. But, it 'may' (this needs checking out) mean the car doesn't remember customisation settings via the Infotainment system which includes; internal light timings, sound settings, Nav destinations, and more.

If you don't have a phone with you because you don't want the police, Interpol, MI5, or Google tracking you, then just note that the car is tracked by Toyota and that data will be made available to the police, Interpol, and MI5 of they have legal cause. But not Google.

The main issue done folks are having os even with a phone it sometimes doesn't load and or can drop your profile mid drive, as just happened to me. At this point Android Auto is not available and as I use that all the time it becomes a problem.

Bizarrely in the US they can choose a number of profile tag devices including the key fob.

On our other Toyota, a Yaris (which is also Smart Connect and I assumed very similar to the system in the newer RAV4s), you can choose whether to use the key fob or phone for the profile. Then again, the Yaris system has wireless Android Auto as well as Wireless Apple CarPlay but I seem to recall the RAV only has wireless CarPlay and Android Auto is wired only so there may well be differences.

Yeh I've looked and looked, been through every option, but this part of the software doesn't show a fob profile association option as they have in the USA.

The FOBs in the US are also different. They get a panic button on the FOB to flash and honk continuously.
